Announcement on KP to be made

Sounds to me like Cook has said "I don't know how to manage him" and the board have gone, alright we do it for you. I totally agree with Vaughan's take on the situation on the BBC. If Swann said a couple of weeks ago he's been no problem since 2012 does that mean something happened since Swann left the tour or was he telling lies (when he had nothing to gain from doing so).

Someone asked why it's been announced rather than just not pick him. It had to be or it would be asked at every press conference plus from his point of view if he's not going to play then get rid of his central contract so he can sign his own endorsements/IPL contracts etc without having to ask the ECB first.

i think its more likely that someone at teh top said let him go and cook just went along with it, nee spine that lad

Anyone think it could be the right decision?

He's a great player (Although not to his standards of late) but there is always a story with him. He obviously rubs members of the team /management up the wrong way. Maybe it is time to start a fresh and build for the next Ashes series it all depends on the talent coming through.

We need some players who are prepared to stand up and be counted, bit tougher than some of the current bunch who seemed to get bullied off the aussies last month.

Strange timing.

1. Get the coach sorted out

2. Get a captain sorted out, as Cook isn't upto it or fit to captain a village team. (Alternatively he could do that and learn the art of captaincy including tactics and man management, as young bowlers get no support or encoragement in the field).

3. Now let the captain and coach sort out the KP problem, knowing that down the line both could change and the position be reviewed again, not make a final statement when everything is up in the air.

The one thing this will do is put off many a good coach who will feel that they'll have to do the job with one arm behind their back with the ECB interferring all the time. Maybe's thats what they want so they can appoint a yes man in Giles.

We are fashioning a team full of integrity who can't win cricket matches. Let's make sure they are gracious losers who always wash behind their ears and have clean handkerchiefs.

thats because he is our best player and that is how the english media operate, rip the team to shreds rather than support it.

The ECB clearly thought this would be a easy ride as everyone hated KP

wrong

I wasn't a big fan myself, but I love him now

The shocking truth about kp's evil whistling...

Pietersen just sounds just like one tosspot amongst many others.

We must be the only team in the world who would leave out a player who can change a game on a whim. So what if he has an opinion? Not everyone has to agree with him. But the seeming fact that some did should set alarm bells ringing from the ECB. Instead they have taken the head in the sand approach, and now dismissing KP is the easy thing to do instead of addressing the underlying issues.
