The Steven Taylor chant

Not what others from around the ground have said, or another who watched on television.
From where i was the contrast was staggering.

The atmosphere always sounds shite on telly imo. The away fans sound early, and the main noise our fans create is banging. Presume the mics are placed towards the back of the stands, doesn't mean the atmosphere was actually shite.

imo our fans tend to sing more anti-mags songs when there are fewer Sunderland players that are well liked. Don't think there are many player-related songs that have really caught on recently, they're usually about cult figures (Nyron, Cisse) or good players (Bent) and we've had neither of those recently.

Agree that Taylor deserves nowt from us like. He obviously revels in the attention.

They've been shite this season mind. I've commented on a few match threads involving Man Utd saying they were quiet. Mind they arent winning all the time now like

Not on their travels they havent been like. People are saying they were shite last night, and I thought so too. Then I watched the full game back and they hardly ever shut up.

That applied to the Man Utd lot as well far a lot of the game from the South Stand. You could see them all clapping and bouncing about but not much in terms of noise.

Maybe it's a lot to do with acoustics between the two ends and i fully understand that.
I was half way between the two though.

Thats a point. We used to have chants for almost every player when we havd the likes Cisse, Jones and Steed. Now there's only a few hundred or so who seem to sing for the players (Brown being the exception), even though Oshea, Ki, Colback, Fletcher, Altidore etc all have chants.

Bit Of fun

Catchy chant

Sounds class when belted out.

If you think our lyrics are shite see palaces version...

No disputing your point marra cos I watched it back on tv and it was mainly their lot you could hear. But its no real surprise cos a) its an away game and b) they are easily the best away fans for constant singing (whether people like it or not)[DOUBLEPOST=1389185160][/DOUBLEPOST]

Although Palaces is a direct rip off at least its in support of their club. We should just sing the Riveros song instead.

Only cos you made it up ;)

Could change it to borini

Before this garbage Steven Taylor ditty hit the big time, there was the "wish you were dead" number. Crap songs about an absolute nothing player. It would be like Liverpool singing about Tony Hibbert.

What do you mean by this?

Roker Park was an intimidating ground for away fans but i think it was fairly safe for those who respected it.
If "aways" had acted like Everton in the cup and Man Utd last night they'd have been f**king destroyed.
The ground should be safe for anyone going for the match but away fans come here and take the piss nowadays.

Do you think our ground is unsafe to get to now?

tbf Man Utd came here in the league, took the piss in a pub and ran out with pints glasses stuck in their head

Bring back the Paolo da Silva chant!

Ooooh we are Sunlun
The mighty Sunlun
From Wearsiiiiide
The 50s bank of england and famous roker roar
An army of supporters like nothing else before

Sang more at away games for some reason (only heard it once at home this season)

I think around Roker Park away fans generally kept their heads down and didn't take the piss because there were too many people who wouldn't allow them to take the piss. They wouldn't ever get the opportunity to mob up and get cocky. Look at what happened to Chelsea, Spurs etc etc.
I know times have changed but clubs like everton and man utd generally have a free run of the place.

Do they? Never seen anyone taken this piss like but perhaps i've just missed it. Thought ManU got a bit of a kicking for just acting lairey in the less-than-intimidating Corner Flag a couple of months back.

Both everton and man utd have took the piss in/around the colliery tavern in recent years. I don't think they'd have got away with their edginess at Roker, or even the early years of the SOL.
I can't comment on the corner flag incident as i wasn't there. That's the type of reception i'd expect them to get everywhere if they were taking the piss.
