Who would you look to bring in and who would you keep?

Cook
Root
Bell
Pietersen
Ballance
Stokes
Prior
Broad
Borthwick/Tremlett
Anderson
Panesar

That would be the team I'd look at rotating the second spinner/ 3rd strike bowler depending on conditions.

Might be worth going back to Finn. Tell him to hoy it down as quickly as he can and become the intimidating bowler he should be.

The spin options are horrific like. Panesar is garbage and Borthwick is a batting all rounder, shame that Rashid hasn't fulfilled his early promise.

Tremlett won't play again unless he can put on another 5mph at least, can't see that happening at his age with the amount of injuries he's had.

Don't think Panesar will play many more games either. I think the patience with his lack of fielding and batting has been exhausted and his bowling isn't any better than when he made his debut. Looks like his off the field issues are coming home to roost.

I don't know what Taylor did to get dropped in the first place but I think him, Root and Stokes should play all summer. Root should open, it's where he learnt his game.

Onions, Anderson and Broad should be the bowling attack. Finn needs to sort himself out in county cricket. I'm not convinced by Rankin, especially not at 29, could be a big season for Overton, maybe even Wood if he can kick on. Those 2 and Mills seem to be the only real pace prospects about at the minute, I haven't seen Overton but the other 2 look a way off test cricket at the moment.

Nick Compton still an option? Agree with the comment about Mustard. We're in the same situation we were in when Nixon fought it out with Read before Prior plopped in

I think we are writing off too many players too prematurely. While I would love to see Phil mustard keep for England, prior is world class and still only 32. With the right coaching is not f***ing flower and gooch we will come good with the bat.

I think thats what theyll be looking at long term. Borthwick is probably the one that is susceptible to missing out but his batting and fielding possibly give him the edge over Panesar. Prior is also likely to be under pressure but if his main contender is Bairstow then it should be Prior every time. I dont see Kieswetter or Buttler playing Test cricket any time soon.

The side is basically the same as the one that has been demoralised down under but there arent a wealth of options waiting to come in.

COACH-Michael Vaughan

Lets not forget that the Aussies are an ageing team with many like Rogers,Watson,Clarke.Haddin,Harris all in their 30s.We need to pick a vibrant new team based on players predominantly in their early/mid 20s.This blue print is the way forward with Michael Vaughan as coach who will command instant respect and who knows what it takes to win the Ashes back.He has been there got the t-shirt,etc.The re-building process should start NOW.
BATTING COACH
BOWLING COACH-----BOTH POSITIONS TO BE APPOINTED BY VAUGHAN.

COOK
ROBSON
ROOT
TAYLOR
BALLANCE
STOKES B
BAIRSTOW
BORTHWICK B
BROAD B (CAPT)
OVERTON B
FINN B

Rid of Flower and start again with a new manager - Vaughan is an option. I like the idea of Paul Grayson or Mark Robinson as head coach. The man at the top should have been Geoff Cook.

Can't believe they intend to continue with cook and flower, going to cost us a few more series to work out the mistake

Tremlett is finished like.

Borthwick isn't good enough at present. The jury very much out with Prior but Bairstow doesn't look like the answer. I'd seriously consider Mustard in the Haddin type role.

fuck me we wouldn't be able to put a team out [durham][DOUBLEPOST=1388848752][/DOUBLEPOST]cook, root, bell, pietersen, ballance, stokes, prior, broad, borthwick/bresnan/tredwell, anderson, onions

depending on pitch as to play spinning all rounder, seamin allrounder or front line spinner.

if trott recovers i'd have him at 3, bell at 4 and kp or ballance at 5.

Trott has gone and I don't expect him back at this level. He has been found out once and I would think how to do that will go round.
