Jones not going with the team for training incase a transfer offer comes in.
Wasn't that impressed with him when I saw him for Schalke or blackburn but if he can keep his head then wouldn't be the worst signing

If.. and a very big if... he can keep his head, he'd be the 2nd best midfielder on the team, after Ki, and certainly the most experienced. Cattermole and Colback would be out of a job - which would not be a bad thing. They're part of the the problem. I'm surprised you weren't impressed with him at Schalke - have you watched them a lot? He's usually very skillful and fairly creative for Schalke... there's little question of his skill among the Bundesliga fans/players and the German press... there's just the question of his sanity.

Jones is an upgrade on Cattermole because he's more athletic and stands 6'2...More of a box to box midfielder who defends well, but also likes to surge forward.....He would be an improvement on Colback/Larsson/Cattermole but not by very much

On the flip side, he's undisciplined and likes to surge forward leaving his midfield partner alone to defend too often.
Injury problem and is not a very good passer.

Maybe Sunderland should check on the availability of Donovan since he won't be moving to Everton...Or even Zusi although I'm not a fan of him, he can cross the ball and can take corners...Sunderland only has Larsson.

Zusi is exactly what sunderland are missing. Pace on the wing, who can whip in a wicked cross.

He's a fantastic passer for Schalke. Not so great for the US. He would be a huge huge improvement over Colback/Larsson/Cattermole. Any center midfielder who starts for a champions league side would obviously be superior to those three.

Cabral?

I think Ki would play deeper similar to Bradley, which is really what he is best at: keeping possession and distributing the ball side to side (I think someone called it a "registra." Not good with Italian.)[DOUBLEPOST=1388685235][/DOUBLEPOST]
He has a house in LA.
Colback does. "Registra " already and look at the slating he gets. Is it okay to do it if you are foreign;)

Lets be honest, whilst some on here reckon hes a tad reckless hes been playing for a canny side in Germany and in the champions league, surely hes an upgrade?
