Before you start bashing, realize that he's not a proper yank. And I've honestly never been impressed. And he has a bad knee. And his air looks like my grandmother wearing a shower cap.

he's very good. excellent passer, tenacious tackler, now and then has a cracker of a shot. Bundesliga players and fans almost universally respect his talent. It's his f***ing insanity that's the problem. He's not all there.

haway man..reserve squad.username with more than 1 sunderland reference in it

100% mag
just because you have been here awhile does not make you a mackem, you have every chance to be a black and white **** yourself. i surggest you retreat back to nufc and tell them the good news of you being rumbled.

I just think he is a beast, and might allow us to play a midfield two. Also, this could possibly be short term. I think he was planning to go back to the States after the World Cup.

aye..I have managed to keep up the pretence for 11 whole years..yet you rumbled me in seconds after posting a rumour that had already been posted about an hour earlier..well done! high fives all round!!

I don't see him fitting too well alongside Ki. Jones doesn't stay deep as much as I'd prefer, although he's at least pretty effective when he does go forward. If we got him at the beginning of the window, we'd have 18 league matches left, so he could probably squeeze 10 or so yellows in there.

To me he would be a big upgrade over Cattermole and Colback. Basically he's a tenacious/aggressive def mid who offers something going forward without the risk of someone like Cattermole.

I think Ki would play deeper similar to Bradley, which is really what he is best at: keeping possession and distributing the ball side to side (I think someone called it a "registra." Not good with Italian.)[DOUBLEPOST=1388685235][/DOUBLEPOST]
Has Jones ever lived in the US? I thought he was German born and bred.
He has a house in LA.

Ki sitting alone in front of the CBs with his partner running around like a rabid wolf 40 yards up the pitch scares me a bit, but we need to score more goals somehow. So sure, why not?

He should be better than Catts going forward as he is a true box-to-box and will look for a canny pass or can crack a shot on a late run forward...

...but don't sell him short on the nutwagon defence... If he and cattermole split time, they will be in a personal battle for who can commit the most dangerous tackles and get the most red cards... Jones makes some truly abysmal, dangerous challenges at times...

He also has bad knees.

On the plus side, he has made numerous top 5 lists for Kicker Magazine as one of the Bundesliga best defensive midfielders up to a few years ago, just a bit past his prime but still a good player...

He is German... His father is US serviceman who was stationed in Germany... but he grew up in Germany and lived there his whole life...

Some good tidbits here:
