Doubt he would have retired if we were doing better in the tests. Now he wants Xmas at home.
Or he was told he was going to be dropped for the remaining two games and offered the chance to bow out now instead of at the end of the series having been dropped.
 

Or a dignified end to the career of a player who's been an integral part of a very successful England team. How is it any braver for him to carry the drinks for two games then quit?

aye, very dignified. if he stayed with the team through a difficult time then all credit to him, he didn;t.
