Clearly not fit though, and the Aussies know it. Selectors should take some blame here. Apparently he announced his intention to resign at Adelaide - why didn't we play Monty in Perth?

that's fine. Those that are fit will stick around. He should leave them to it if he doesn't feel up to the challenge though.

Swann has had an absolute disaster of a fortnight. Taken to bits in Perth, putting his foot in it with rape comments, retiring mid series and now getting digs in at team mates.

Probably the least dignified retirement I can remember. His long term legacy / reputation may take a bit of a hit as a result[DOUBLEPOST=1387756572][/DOUBLEPOST]

can only assume he is talking about the Australians and their approach this series.

Just because Derek Pringles writes something I find it astonishing that people buy into it?! Making stuff up sells papers I suppose[DOUBLEPOST=1387757615][/DOUBLEPOST]
Ignore 's backtracking. Tonight's (the paper that pays him..) confirms he was talking about England teammates.

 that vile prick is going to town on Swann tonight.

Morgan is like an infatuated One Direction fan when it comes to Pietersen (who Swann was clearly having a pop at, despite what he says), he will never ever criticise him the way he does with Cook for example.

Swann had a pop at KP in his autobiography a couple of years ago. If he wasn't referring to him I will eat my hat.

He could easily mean one of the fringe/one day players. That's the way I read it. Not meaning anyone in the dressing room at the moment.

Morgan? Bopara? Saj?

Statistically, maybe, but a lot of easy wickets on favourable surfaces against poor teams/batsmen with weak technique boost his numbers.

Any evidence to back this up? All bowlers benefit from 'favorable conditions', I am not convinced Swann is any worse than anyone else in this regard.

That would be a reasonable argument if it wasn't for the fact that surfaces have never been easier for batting in the history of the game. There are no uncovered pitches that previous spinners would benefit from and much faster outfields than in the past making it more difficult to contain.

Other than that a good point very well made.

where Swann has benefitted against bowlers of the past is DRS - he got a lot of LBW's that bowlers of the past wouldn't have.

yes but many batsmen get out so cheaply in tests...playing 20/20 shots creating way more catch/stumping opportunities than even 6 or 7 years ago.

Is there any evidence drs has benefitted bowlers not batsmen? Shane warne must have had a lot of wickets from over appealing
