I agree with your comments but, on a more general point, why on earth do professional footballers insist on taking a touch before having a shot on goal? Can they not hit the ball on the move or on the volley? Surely this is a basic skill learned in much earlier years. So many chances are lost by doing thus in high tempo games.
He was injured when the chance came. Had been hobbling for a minute and came to him while he had pulled his ankle in fairness

Fuck me, some on here are actually saying he held the ball up! You must have a different perspective to me, he is the worst footballer I have seen in the premier league, always moves in an opposite direction to the ball played to him.
That's called midfield and strikers not on the same wavelength. It happens with fletcher. If he makes a run they play it to where he was. If he stays then play it for a run.

And as for worst player, don't be stupid. Did you not see rade prica and o'donovan?

For anyone who has abused him directly on twitter, what are you hoping to achieve? Do you expect it to make him do better?

Not right that

Mind after a game like today why a striker who is obviously lacking in confidence would go on himself is weird. Or maybe he thought he played well

That's the real point here.

Fletcher has been just as dire this season. Sick of people building him up as the saviour, he has been less than average.

We have 2 average centre forwards with no pressure. I like fletcher, but by his he has been well off this season. We didn't half overpay for him aswell.[DOUBLEPOST=1387665572][/DOUBLEPOST]
How long can we peddle the no pre season?

All the way until may?

You saw the same thing with Phillips after an injury.........it just takes strikers a little bit longer after missing a pre-season as their whole game is based on sharpness and instinct. Not making excuses for him........but he's a proven 1 in 3 striker at this level.

Well he needs to show it, it's not just fitness that's lacking. It's even the endeavour and error being out in.

As I say, I still maintain the midfield is the problem. We don't create chances

It's easy to identify an obviously failing part of the team and blame them for the problems but you could also say that they aren't being given options by their team-mates.........if no-one moves for you you end up holding the ball aimlessly or punting it backwards and sidewards. It's as simple as pass and move but it has to be done with pace and precision and currently our players just aren't capable of it.......it's ponderously slow and easy to defend.

I wouldn't do it personally like but if the players can't take a little bit criticism after doing nothing for his " fans" why not just set account to private. Pay me £30K or so a week and I would become most hated person on twitter and still not give a shit.

Twitter is a terrible form of Media. Why professional footballers leave themselves open to abuse by being on there is beyond me.

My opinion on Altidore is that he is simply not of the quality that is needed at this level. He will score loads in the championship though.

Our strikers have had chances, they just haven't taken them or they've fallen to the wrong person. We created chances today, Borini had a half chance, Bardsley and Seb had decent chances, Brown had a headed chance, KI, and we had a few shots from outside the area that a confident player might have slammed home.

Just watched the highlights from todays match as I've been at work and what was his shot all about ? it was perfect on the bounce, he could of had a pop straight away, but took about 10 touches then scruffed it ??

Altidore had a great chance in the box but he waited half an hour before shooting. He had a great chance against Chelsea, put through on goal and had about 5 touches before kicking it at the defender

I disagree mate, they're all half chances at best really.[DOUBLEPOST=1387669792][/DOUBLEPOST]

He was injured today, that's what I think when he took a touch first. He was limping for a minute and holding his ankle
