Is this the Geoff Boycott who refused to play for England for 3 or 4 years in the mid seventies when all the flack was flying around from Lillee and Thompson and the West Indisn quicks?

It is, but it doesn't detract from the fact that KP is more of a liability than a match winner. Four of his dismissals this series have been embarrassing.

I wouldn't really single anyone out, from 1-11 they have been a Shambles on this tour.

However it would be great to see Stokes get a ton today.

Well I agree. It's allright people saying that's the way he plays, but really it wasn't what we needed with the situation we're in.
Why is it beyond these established batsmen to put together a big partnership? They just haven't done it.
Why couldn't they just dig in and make the Aussies fight and scrap every inch of the way to gain their victory?
I think there's been a helluva lot of complacency and arrogance present in this squad, and really the warning signs were there in the summer when really the only difference between the sides was Ian Bell.
The Aussies were all over our top order even back then.

Boycott faced Thomson, Lillee, Garner, Holding, Roberts, Marshall etc on many occasions.

In the 1977 Ashes he made 191 and 107 against an attacking including Thomson. He made a century in Antigua batting against Garner, Roberts and Holding.

Not that any of it is particularly relevant to his right to comment as a cricketing pundit.[DOUBLEPOST=1387216305][/DOUBLEPOST]

If there is one fair criticism of Boycott it was - like Pietersen - 'he only plays one way'.

Yes - a three year sabbatical because he kept getting out hooking medium pacers from the sub continent.

When Lillee and Thomson were breaking limbs (and Bumbles box).

Cowdrey and Close, well into their 40s at the time had to face the fastest and most hostile of pace attacks, while Sir Geoffrey bottled it.

......he seems to have erased that from his memory bank.

I might be getting my timescales mixed up, but was that when he more or less shot his international career to shreds by going on the rebel tours to South Africa?

No the West Indian pace attack of Holding, Roberts, Marshall, Garner were very much at their peak when Boycott faced them at home and away. Boycott was 40 and completely gutsed it out against them.

Can't stand boycott personally, know it all Yorkshire man.

Probably only thinking that K.P will beat his amount if runs for England.

Just because someone doesn't play the way Geoffrey did, makes them a liability. I know who I would rather watch.
I would rather watch Geoffrey

Ah of course, KP gets the blame. What the fuck has Alistair Cook done right this series? Geoffrey's a racist.
That's Sir Geoff to you. Seriously he knows his stuff, people don't like him because he doesn't pussy foot about.

Said that K.P. bottled it.When a patient innings was needed he couldn't do it as the experienced batsman.

Boycs is so two faced

Which England cricketer Said he had a bad back so pulled out of a test ( west indies I think in the 70s ) yet same day went to play golf yea the great Geoffrey

Pot & kettle you Yorkshire tosspot

He's a flair player, always has been. Why expect any different? Prior is also a gung-ho player and baely gets a score, when he does it's good, but mostly shite.
