The 3-0 papered over some serious cracks in the summer where the strength of the bowling attack dug the batting line up out of quite a few sticky situations. By the look of it we've not worked a quarter as hard as the Aussies have on improving their game over the past 4 months and its showing massively. Over-confidence, thinking we just had to turn up, naivety?
We'd have a much better chance if the batsmen stopped fishing at balls that do not need to be played at. Lost count of how many wickets we've lost from our batsmen trying to hook the ball away. Got to stop being shit scared of their attack too, Johnson is in good form but hes shown many times before how he cracks when the tables are turned.
We're making Johnson look twice the player he is. Fair enough, he's running in at 90mph but other than sheer pace and bounce, he's an average bowler. He's no Brett Lee (pre-2005), Jeff Thompson (WIndies touring Australia '75), Malcolm Marshall or Curtly Ambrose (in Australia in '93).
Agree . .at least the 06/07 Aussie team was full of the greats. . Getting hammered by this team is hard to takeWorse than 2006-7 so far. At least Colly had some good knocks in that series. Cook was similarly shite.

Johnson a average bowler I don't think so
He is in the top ten wicket takers of all time for Australia
200 out of 220 of his wickets on the WACA and Gabba I reckon
The first wrong thing we did, although neither player has been terrible, was bringing in Carberry at the top and moving Root down the order.
Disruption like that can upset the whole balance of the side.
Also think Bresnan, although not the best in the world being out and not being at 8 has really upset us too.
He's only taken a paltry 154 scalps away from the WACA and GABA including 16 in 3 tests on South African soil in a 3 match series when they were number one in the rankings.![]()
Just being facetious. I still make that 30% of his wickets on grounds he has played <10% of his cricket on. Begs the question where is our Mitchell Johnson for these tracks?
