Carberry's drop was horrendous, you won't even compete in Test cricket never mind win dropping Dolly's like that.

We need to bat all day and Broad starts trying to smash Siddle for sixes. Utterly clueless, time's up Andy.[DOUBLEPOST=1386583087][/DOUBLEPOST]

Agreed. This game was lost through a complete lack of composure, simple as. Aussies would have the coach's head in the same position.

It was but far more shit has passed under the bridge for that to be of any relevance now. One more wicket at that stage wouldn't have made up for a an innings and a half of larlgey inept batting.

Read this morning that before this Australia hadn't won a test in 9 and loss 7 of them prior to this series, for any who were still doubting how rubbish England have been so far. Admittedly I think Johnson wasn't playing most of those and had obviously been absolutely key so far, but I think better prepared batsmen would have negated him without suffering anywhere near as much. Better prepared batsmen certainly wouldn't have laboured against the likes of Lyon and Siddle to the same degree at any rate.

The worrying thing is that most average teams realise the fact and play up to compensate. What we've watched this series is an average team who don't realise/won't admit their failings and thus aren't really doing anything to actual remedy the situation. They look bewildered and confused as to how something like this could have happened.

Nail on head there. Plenty of warning signals from NZ tour and the home Ashes.

Saw an interesting post on Cricketweb the other day, listing batsmen by how many balls faced, and bowlers by balls bowled. The top ten was chock-a-block with England players. Are England playing too much cricket?

Sadly this. There were 2 moments through the summer where we got away with it big time, winning the 2nd test against NZ and getting a draw in the 3rd test against the convicts. Against NZ it gave us the impression we could mess about with whatever tactics we wanted and win games, against Australia it papered over the cracks that had appeared from their first innings at Old Trafford.

The only crumb of comfort now is that in the 2nd innings we haven't been completely steam rollered, we've shown we've got a bit of fight about us and 3 of our batsmen have found themselves a hint of form, if we can just bat with the same intent in Perth, we should be in the game.

You know its not going your way when you have Carberry putting the simplest of chances down, or Bell finding the man from a full toss..... Root and Pietersen were both quality and both unlucky to be dimissed, but thats about as far as the positives go.

This pitch was very slow. The pitch in Perth, like it was in Brisbane, will have much more pace and bounce.[DOUBLEPOST=1386594102][/DOUBLEPOST]

Ha'way England! Ha'way rain!!![DOUBLEPOST=1386548004][/DOUBLEPOST]Broad you tit.

A pitch where we’ve lost the last six tests we’ve played there, against a Fast Bowler who has more or less singlehandedly terrified the majority of the entire team. I don’t think it’s going to make for pleasant viewing as an England fan sadly.
