Australia v England - 2nd Ashes Test, Adelaide

The chances of 2 days of rain in the middle of an Aussie summer are rarer than hen's teeth! I reckon Clarke feels that Johnson can bowl England out at will...which seems to be the case!
So why not put england in?

England are a f***ing joke, too many batsmen that look world class when we're battering shite like the west indies but look like school kids against teams like south africa

I can only presume that, as is the Aussie way, they want to make sure they win the Ashes and to do that they'll settle for batting England out of the game. They still have plenty time for the win (which is almost certain), it also gives time in the middle to certain players who need it (Warner & Watson- though obviously this hasn't worked for him). They have been hurting since England and have been prepping for this series whereas it appears we may have just rested on our laurels once again.

Fair enough, it would hurt englands pride a lot more to beat them by an innings and 150 runs which theyd more than liklely do

Strang decision to bat again imo

In my opinion that is why the Aussies will nearly always win more than us. Their attitude is not to give you a chance, why should they? They want the urn and they want it badly, hence their preparation.

I thought so too. But probably just because their bowlers, particularly Johnson will be paggered from the intensity of the bowling and Clarke sees an opportunity to win by the best part of a thousand runs and humiliate us.

Theyre 400 ahead, they could and probably would have us about 4 down by the close of play

Stupid decision to bat on...............theyll regret it if it rains

More chance of pietersen playing a defensive shot than it raining mind

but it's back to back tests, why not chuck us in the field for another day and make our bowlers toil away before perth... they're making us suffer.

Just woke up, this is f***ing pathetic. We'd have a better chance with me getting some pads and flying across......f***ing shit.

Be alot of money invested in a 5 day test, I reckon that can only be the reason, wasn't it the same with the test at Lords in the last Ashes, we had a second innings when way ahead.
Got to keep the powers that be happy.

Went to bed last night because I felt a bit crap.... Pleased I did, Root and Pietersen want kicking, that's schoolboy stuff, pathetic

Absolutely shocking from them both. A lot will be said about Johnson tearing through the lower order, and Prior should be rightly castigated for another horroshow, but those two giving their wickets away so easily when the pressure is on is unforgivable. Doing that makes it a nearly impossible task for the lower order, shows their lack of foresight and understanding of how test cricket needs to be played. Pietersen being shown up again for the adequate cricketer he really is, a flat track bully of the highest order.

Not enforcing the follow on is f***ing stupid IMO. How long are the Aussies going to bat for?
No-one enforces the follow on any more. You are far more likely to win setting the opposition 500+ in the fourth innings. Also why risk injury to Johnson, Harris and Siddle?[DOUBLEPOST=1386405274][/DOUBLEPOST]

The prevailing sentiment with regards enforcing the follow on changed with Laxman and Dravid's 376 stand at Eden Gardens. No way they could have made it batting fourth.

We are going to get whitewashed unless something radical happens. Time for Flower to go methinks.[DOUBLEPOST=1386405627][/DOUBLEPOST]
What is Matt Priors average over this series & last? It must be under 10

Other than that huge 192 last series Joe Roots done almost nowt over the two series' either.

5 ducks in 9 tests. The lad has talent, serious questions need to be asked of Gooch.

Fcukin embarrassing this like . . .gonna be worse than 06/07 series . .especially given the quality of the opposition. . Pleased I don't know any Aussies

180.

TBH it is unfair to single out any of the players after that mess, they are all poor. The finger of blame points at the coaching for me.

I'm glad I was too pissed to watch this last night. What a f***ing shambles.
