agreed. i'm alot more country orientated in cricket than i am in football but i'd still say county before country but just by a hair...

but despite that, for the sake of the players i would rather see stokes, onions, borthwick and others get a shot to represent england even though it weakens our side.

still rankles how badly onions gets treated, but perhaps this selction will put to bed the silly 'anti-durham agenda' that people seem think goes on....

It's a disgrace

Picking him when he is not ready so he fails and they can revert back to surrey players

Jobs for the boys

That must count as a great day for him amidst the depression

For me he is the only one of the XI who has actually stuck his hand up and made a difference in this game. Looks very comfortable at this level and his bowling could cause some damage. Got to stick with him and give him a good go at it IMO.

From what i seen in Aussies innings looked Englands most threatening bowler, and certainly the most attacking. And I still think at his best he is a batting all rounder. Hopefully he can get a few runs in this match and get a decent run in the test side.

I was gutted for the lad for the NB, great to see he still ended up getting two and Clarke being all important of course!

Chuffed to bits for the lad. He bowled really well, in fact last season it was his main strength for Durham. Be interesting too see how he bats. If the spinners are on he'll be launching it from ball 1. He doesnt fuck about when he gets into bat.

Interesting that the Aussies have been full on with Stokes, and very quick to give him a mouthfull. I bet that has come from Divenuto knowledge of his former team mate.

i suspect its more to do with him being from new zealand. possibly because he is young and making his way in the game.

would be dissapointed in diva if he tried to persuade australian players into derailing [stokes'] career.[DOUBLEPOST=1386541434][/DOUBLEPOST]

funny that he did the exact opposite. and considering the state of the game when he came in i think he did the right thing.

'only' scored 28 and tbh could have been out 5 times during it but seemed a very mature and useful contribution.

to come into a side chasing 570 after being smashed in the first game i think he did exceptionally well to make his debut away to a very hostile australia, facing probably the quickest bowler in the world in the form of his career i think his numbers stack up very well.

Yes, an impressive debut while the rest of the team crumbles around him

One of very few up for the fight

Though he did well considering the carnage unfolding, could be a genuine top class number 6 for England over the next decade or so.

I thought they made a special effort to get stuck into Stokes to attempt to get a rise from him which they got. Personally i quite like the way Stokes came back at them, thats the type of lad he is. But i bet it has been Diva who has had the major input into the tactics used , you can be as dissapointed as you want but he is an Aussie employed as their batting coach and Stokes is playing for the opposition.

I was impressed with Stokes in the end. Thought at the start of the second innings he looked nervous and shaky as fuck, and he had me wondering why he was anywhere near a test team. But he hung in there for abit, and looked to be improving as his innings progressed. The Aussie sledging which I think in fairness probably played a part in leading to his dismissal, spoke volumes of how frustrated they were getting with him being at the crease.[DOUBLEPOST=1386618270][/DOUBLEPOST]

Exactly my feelings, all things considered it was a decent little innings.

What was the crack between him and paedo tache? Didn't see it but saw they were both charged by the ICC?

They bumped into each other when Stokes was going for a single, and Johnson followed him up the other end and started having a pop. You couldn't really see/hear what was being said, apart from a few expletives from Ben, Umpire pushed Johnson away, Clarke came over to get involved and I'm sure I lip read Ben calling him a c_nt.

Something and nothing.
