I make them favourites, the first time I've thought that since down there in 06/07. 2-1 to them I'd say.

Bowling attacks look equal to me, especially as there are not likely to any raging turners for Swann to exploit. I put us ahead in the batting, but we are playing away and we only seldom win down there.

But this depends on Australia doing two things. The first is to back up some very big talk with deeds. At the moment some of the stuff coming out from their camp sounds ridiculous when you look at their record in tests over the last year or so. Which leads to the second. Australia have to play with a proper test match mentality, digging in if things go wrong and seeing the fifth day during the first. If they play with the same short sightedness as they did during the summer over here, they could get battered.

They are very fortunate to get the chance so soon to regain the Ashes, and I expect them to make the most of it. Clarke particularly just has to win this series or he is a gonner after all his blowhard big talk. They cannot afford to lose at the GABBA, and they rarely do. If England can win this one I think we'll coast the series, but when did we last start well overseas?

It's looking like 2 out of 9 at best! Nee chance of 3 draws when neither team can bat.
 
Baffled by people predicting an England win at Brisbane. The Aussies haven't lost a test there since 1988 or so warne said. Unless that was just to England. Either way the best we were going to do here was draw.

It's just a cricket ground, there is nothing supernatural about the place, go in there expecting to lose and you will.

FWIW Australia haven't lost an Ashes series after winning at the Gabba since 1954. Should we just give up now?
