Considering the chances that fell inches from hand, Aussie are lucky to get where they did. Excellent bowling performance from England on a wicket that didn't do much at all.
Got to worry about the mentality of the Aussie press/public as well. If you were going to pick a couple of players to wind up why would you pick KP and Broad, the two players who will thrive on it?

What was the Australian song for broad, he mentioned it in press conference
To get them 8 down on the first day on that track was nothing short of outstanding. If we beat them in the first test on a ground they have such a great record on they will capitulate for the rest of the series
"Broad is a wanker" (repeat)[DOUBLEPOST=1385055168][/DOUBLEPOST]
Was a mixture of quality bowling and some rank batting. Hopefully our batsmen stay switched on.
That is a 400 plus track like, all yesterday did was highlight even more how fragile their batting line up is, no way should they of nearly been bowled out on day one on that track
Agreed. Once the ball got a bit soft it literally did nothing. For some reason I'm not fully confident in our batting line up at the mo. Carberry could get found out quickly and the Aussies seemed to have found a way to bowl to trott and cook.
Thing is our batting line up was shite in the summer, bell's brilliant form got us out of a lot of trouble. That is a 400 plus track like, all yesterday did was highlight even more how fragile their batting line up is, no way should they of nearly been bowled out on day one on that track

Hopefully the rest have regained their form.
Anyway my worry tonight is haddin and harris putting on a partneship as they did in the summer. Need to get one of them early as lyon is a genuine number 11.
I honestly cannot see our batting line up performing as badly (if u can call it that) as they did over here in the summer. The likes of Prior, Trott and Cook seem to love batting over there and surely cant be as bad as they were last time round. Bell is always good value for runs and i have a feeling like Broad, KP may have summit special up his sleeve
I honestly dont think its possible for Cook, Trott and Prior to be as bad in this series with the bat
Hopefully you're correct mate. I just think the Aussie attack is little better than it is credited. Anyway, first things first, last two wickets.
Harris is their best bowler by a mile but stangely he seems to be better in our conditions than he is in theirs, i personally dont think he will be as effective this time round, You are right we cant afford to do a "typical England" and let these two hang around, get them out early doors and lets hope Cook and Carberry can get off to a solid start, i think if them two can get us to say 80/100 for none you will start to see the Aussie confidence slowly dwindling
Siddle usually has a purple patch. Be interesting to see if this new run up has stopped Mitch bowling to the left and right
I'd love to watch it live, damn time difference. Looking forward to the highlights tonight though. Was a good day for England and broad from the bits I've heard on the radio today.
The problem with Johnson has been his inability to recover if he throws down a few pies, if this happens lets see if he now has the mental strength to come back from it. The best thing about yesterday is it wil of knocked a fair bit of the confidence/arrogance out of them fuckers
Just spend ya days walking like a zombie marra
