are they scrapping it for next year then?presumably being replaced by 50 over, theyre not scrapping it all together?

personally im not that bothered about anything that isn't 4 day or test match, but as 40/50 over cricket is longer i would sooner scrap t20, load of piffle

Bit off topic. How much do Notts get for winning the Pro40?

Personally I like the competition. Its the 50 over match minus the dull middle ten overs to me.

I'm thinking the same. Took the week off work to hopefully watch it on Sky but they're more likely to show the relegation battle.

Have a sneaky feeling the squad might give it a miss too ;)

I think T20 is killing 40/50 over cricket. If you want the longer format you watch Test/Championship cricket, if you want shorter forms you watch T20. I honestly think in a decade or so the only one-day cricket will be T20.

Can't see the point in having a domestic 40 over competition if we play international 50 overs.

However, I agree with Brandon TBH, I can't see 50 over international stuff lasting much longer. As long as Tests remain, I'm not too bothered about any of the pyjama stuff really, it pales into insignificance for me compared to Test cricket.

maybe in 5 years, by 10 years time it'll be down to T10 IMO

You might be right! As an aside, if they were to get rid of 'longer short formats' I would like to see them play two T20's in a day, kind of how they do it at Second XI level.[DOUBLEPOST=1379837419][/DOUBLEPOST]

I agree with you, aslong as Test Cricket is still the main event I'm happy enough.

Is that one match of two 20 over innings or just two 20 over matches, the first option always seemed a good idea to me.

The 50 over game won't fold as long as counties are bidding for it. And from their point of view, what would you rather have 30,000 people there for 100 overs or 30,000 there to watch 40 overs with a few turning up early to watch England women's team?

The groups are out for next years 50 over comp.

Group A

Leicestershire
Northamptonshire
Yorkshire
Worcestershire
Derbyshire
Essex
Gloucestershire
Lancashire
Hampshire

Group B

Surrey
Somerset
Kent
Sussex
Glamorgan
Durham
Middlesex
Nottinghamshire
Warwickshire

Pinning hopes on a trip to Lords for the Middlesex game

fair enough for the seconds who are doing it more for practise than competitivly but surely this would just make the matches even more pointless than they already are?
and you'd need a minimum of 3 teams there per day. The third side having the advantage of being fresh before the second match.
