Why aren't England scheduled to play a test between September '14 when the India tour finishes and April '15 when we go to the West Indies?

Surely we could have cut the limited overs stuff in Sri Lanka down to 2 ODI's and 1 Twenty20 with 3 test matches instead. I can understand that we've got the Triangular series and the World Cup in the first 3 months of 2015 but isn't test cricket the most important thing we should be focusing on?
 

It was supposed to be the Ashes but due to the World Cup it was moved to this year and the ECB decided against any tour.

That'll be shite that. Call me sad but the best thing about the winter is watching England away! Even if its only on the telly! Nowt better than getting in the car on a morning, pitch black, freezing cold and listening to TMS :D

Nothing sad about it. Watching test cricket through the night when it's freezing outside is class.

Build up to the World Cup, although we should really have some Tests in Sri Lanka.
