Looks like his big chance
Eoin Morgan (capt), Ravi Bopara, Jos Buttler, Michael Carberry, Steven Finn, Chris Jordan, Jamie Overton, Kevin Pietersen, Boyd Rankin, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, James Tredwell, Jonathan Trott, Luke Wright.

I'd go for
Jordan, Carberry, Overton to leave out

Root
Wright
Trott
Pietersen
Morgan
Bopara
Stokes
Buttler
Tredwell
Finn
Rankin

But England will go for Carberry and another quick bowler over Stokes

An I dreaming but hasn't Buttler opened for Somerset? Can't see him being lower down tbh. I suspect they may leave Root out and open with Carberry (rightly) and one of Wright and Carberry.

Jordan, Overton and Stokes will be the 3 water carriers.

I still don't see what everyone else seems to see in Buttler. He has one (scoop) shot and can't even play that right.

He's got more than 1 shot, he's as good a potential finisher as England have at the moment. He can play all around the wicket and he looks like a pretty good keeper that the England management think has got plenty of room for development.

I don't think they'd bother calling Carberry up at his age if he wasn't going to play. I also think Bopara will get the nod as number 6 with Buttler at 7, I'm not sure Stokes will get a game unless England are winning 2-0. He might get a shot against Ireland though.

Looking like another game where he's too far down the order for the selectors to know what he's capable of

He was batting at 8, ridiculous really, what is the point of taking him.

They used him as 3rd seamer, the article on Cricinfo Giles proper praises his bowling and genuine all rounder ability. Definately think they are looking at getting him in to the world cup squad if not the team, could be competing with Ravi for a little while just now though to get into the team

Morgan was on 5live earlier eulogising about him

It would seem he impressed more than his figures suggest

Should be close to the test team IMO. Far better player than Woakes.[DOUBLEPOST=1378410431][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm not convinced by Buttler. But I think he has been misused. Just used to slog the odd ball, get him in earlier and see if he can bat through.
