Don't think so.. at least they denied he is on the market..still.. they have plenty of midfielders, they added Strootman, and they might want to give a bigger role to Pjanic and Florenzi ( there is also De Rossi).. I think he is not that necessary to them on the field, but they have an american ownership, so Bradley is kind of an asset from a marketing standpoint.. Will see.. at the moment I don't think is possible. There are no rumors on him coming to Sunderland as well
 

Just read PDC's comments re TH in the Echo. So now everybody is clear we are working on tight financial constraints, hence the carry on over Perruzi and the Greek chap. Also the reason we haven't even bothered to stick a bid in for Danny Rose no doubt. Also makes you wonder what the real motivation was behind signing lads like Diakite, Roberge and Ba. Is it becasue they are good players or cheaper options to those we had?

I don't see that at all. We appear to be working to a sensible plan financially, taking everything into account - wages, fitness of the player, attitude etc. It amazes me how the desperation to have our eyes taken out by other clubs and players who've traditionally seen us as right mugs is beginning to catch. Let Hull and Norwich get stuck with bog average players on whacking great contracts for a change eh?

I don't disagree with that, but at the same time it's clear that the club is looking to cut its cloth. The fiasco over Peruzzi and the greek chap looks decidedly dodgy. Have a bid accepted, stall then try to renegotiate. Loan move for Cissokho despite the fact he's quite well proven and Liverpool wanted him - The door is open, but we are hesititaing, or haggling to get it done on the cheap. There is no quation mark over Roses fitness or attitude and he'd happily sign for us - we just don't have the dosh (haven't even attempted to bid for him so what other explanation is there?)

That's a good post and I agree in principle. Personally though I think Huddlestone is an excellent player and in this case would have been glad to have him for a fair fee IMO. Not whinging or losing sleep over it but I think DiCanio would have been delighted if we had brought him in.

Because spurs are the selling the club, we can get cissokho for half the price of rose at least.

Spurs are the selling club re Bale, but that hasn't stopped Real Madrid for sticking an offer or two in for him to test the water. It's all relative

8mil+ for a player who's had 1 good season and that spurs don't even want to sell, or 4 mil for proven quality over a number of years in the champions league.

it makes you wonder what the club's real motivation is.
if "someone" thought huddlestone was the "right" player at £4million does he become the "wrong" player at £5million?

the main priority should be can he actually do what we need him to.
 
Part of an interview between the local rag and Steve Bruce yesterday:

Bruce has been a long-standing admirer of the former Derby County man and revealed his delight at fending off direct competition from Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio this week.

He said: "The hard part with Tom was persuading him to come here and play football. We had competition so for him to come and choose us is great.

"I didn't think we'd get Tom Huddlestone because of his sheer quality. I knew we had to beat off competition too so to do that shows how far we've come.

"I knew Paolo Di Canio rang him the other night so I knew we were up for competition.

"I met Tom in London and I just said to him 'Come and make us play, enjoy your football every week.' That's what he needs."

They are working really hard to get the wage bill down over a period of time. I would suggest it was much more to do with Huddlestone not going on a wage bill of around 30k over 3 years similar to Giacherini than any up front fee.

i know, things are just a bit confused for me at the moment. i'm optimistic that one or two of our new signings will turn out decent.
i'm aware wage limits have become top priority but i'm concerned that we're lowering our standards to suit a price.
i'd rather have one player who can do the job than two who can't. anyway, let's stay optimistic and see how things pan out.

personally, i'm not too sure if huddlestone would've been a good signing anyway but if someone on the footballing side did then it seems a bit strange we couldn't get a deal over the line.
