With most leagues now over I was wondering how things had gone in the various areas.

The Central area saw the following

Under 18's Chester-le-Street winners

Under 15 Washington

Under 13 Washington

Under 11 Durham

How about the other areas?

South East:
Cups
U18 seaham harbour
U15 castle eden
U13 castle eden
U11 castle eden

League (I think it finished)
U18 peterlee
U15 Ryhope
U13 castle eden
U11 Ryhope A

NTSCL:

11s - Sacriston; Annfield Plain runners up
13s - Sacriston & Shotley Bridge; Annfield Plain missing out on the title by just 2 points
15s - Blaydon; Annfield Plain runners up
18s - Shotley Bridge; Sacriston runners up

11s wasnt a very high standard, some very young sides, 13s excellent standard at the top half of the table. By and large the games between the teams that ended up top and second/third decided the leagues.[DOUBLEPOST=1376407980][/DOUBLEPOST]

Durham Under 11s are far and away the best U11 side in the County, likewise Washington U13s although they were thrashed by Tudhoe in the U13 cup, mainly due to the efforts of 1 bowler. I'm told but dont know if its right that Washington CC has the most number of junior players in the County.

However it could be the end of an era for Durham City CC at junior level as their Under 11 B team was very weak, ended bottom of the division, and I guess that unless they can find some cracking kids from Durham School over the winter then next years U11 title will be won by CLS CC who won the Under 10s Kwik Cricket competition, held at Durham City.

My lad moved from CLS CC and ended up at Annfield Plain, where Neil Killeen is. Excellent move for him as at 11 years of age he has played for the Academy Team/3rds. Clearly where the teams dont have so many players the youngsters are given far more opportunities than at the bigger clubs who have loads of players. Its noticable that the DCB sides are represented heavily by lads from some of what could be termed the lesser clubs.

One slight amendment to your list Colonel Annfield Plain were joint runners up with Leadgate in the under 11s NTSL, shame the game between those two clubs was lost to the weather a couple of weeks from the end of the season.

You are however excused your small error as you stated you are new to the NTSL, but time enough to judge the standard of the league I see.

Yes, sorry youre right. I remember the game being called off.

The standard of the U11's does not really compare with say the Durham Central Division. I couldnt see anyone in the NTSCL U11, bar perhaps Sacriston, beating say CLS or say Hetton Lyons. No one will beat Durham City as they are just too strong. The proof of the pudding is however upon us as we have the play offs. Annfield Plain U11's have Willington away sometime this week.

At U11 level I'm fairly confident that Durham City will sweep all before them in the Champions Trophy and I'll be surprised if CLS CC dont at least get to the final of the Cup competition.

U13s is a different kettle of fish altogether. The likes of Sacriston, Annfield Plain and Shotley Bridge would hold their own in the Central Division. In fact Annfield Plain are due to play Durham City U13s in the Stephenson Cup final any day now (original game postponed due to the weather) and that'll be an interesting benchmark for me. Durham City I'm told narrowly defeated Sacriston in the semi final of that competition. Annfield Plain defeated Sacriston at U13 with 4 and a bit overs to spare back in June.

My lad captained the NTSCL U11's in the Just Sport trophy last month held at Eppleton and Hetton Lyons and although they defeated the NEPL on the second day to end up 3rd in the competition out of 4, they were comprehensively outplayed on the first day by the Durham Cricket League and the NEPL. they were then hammered by the NY League the next day. Its hardly surpsiring though as the NTSCL effectviely picked their side from about 8 clubs. The defeat of the NEPL on the second day was a great game though.

Just a quick update, CLS under 18's beat Marsden the winners of the North League? tonight very convincingly.

They now play the winner of Peterlee v Bishop Auckland to decide the North East Champs!!

Not sure if they win they go any further.

How old before you can get kids involved. The boy with his condition of being allergic to the sun might be better trying cricket than football. Least with cricket he can where his sun hat all the time.

He is six at the moment

Plenty of lads and lasses playing competitive pairs ie U11 cricket when they are 7 or so. Where do you live as a matter of interest?

The handbook doesnt say anything about progressing any further if they win. Once your crowned Champions Trophy winners then thats it I think.[DOUBLEPOST=1376433468][/DOUBLEPOST]
Ideal then. Club right on your doorstep. Take him along, I'm sure the bairn will enjoy it. Not long left for this season though but Boldon are bound to have winter nets. Clubs are always on the look out for new talent.

Will do. He played football for the first time with Boldon colts last week and had to play with his hat on.

Least with cricket he can wear it and not look out of place. Unless of course, he is bowling, but time to sort that out, if he is any good.

In the summer when the sun comes out wearing a hat is a must really for the bairns. Cricket grounds are like sun traps.

Leadgate were beaten by Bishop Auckland by 2 runs on Sunday morning in the play offs!!

I was at the Just Sport Trophy on the Tuesday as my son was playing for the NTSL and its fair to say the were well beaten in both games, he batted no.8 against the NEPL and the NTSL were 5 - 6 when he went in in the 5th over. He managed to bat the remaining 14 odd overs out to finish not out so he was well chuffed with himself (he is only 9). Didn't see the Wednesdays games but after Tuesday I think all expected the NY league to beat them on the morn but I'm told it was a great effort on the Weds afternoon to reverse the result with the NEPL.

The standard of the NTSL isn't as strong as other leagues mainly due to lack of numbers within most of the clubs, a lot of teams in the league have fielding very young sides this year but the league its self will become more competitive the next couple of season as the younger ones age.

If only his brother could bat 14 overs more often on a Saturday!
