Was there Saturday and Yesterday...Brilliant days out and the atmosphere yesterday in particular was superb after tea.CLS is a great venue for test match cricket imo.Yeah it aint the largest ground but so what it looks beautiful, it was well supported and the organisation was spot on...Never queued once for ale or the bogs for that matter.D.C.C.C can feel extremely proud of themselves and I hope they get test matches as well as ODI'S and 20/20s in the future..Only gripe I had was this shutting the bars and cooling down period with the drink for an hour and a half or so...wtf's all that about...it seemed to get more people wound up then cooling them down....9.5/10 for the whole experience from me....Well done Durham

loads left around me! They were leaving when Australia were 7 down. I made a joke to my mate that it's just like being in Sunderland as hundreds headed for the exit with 20 minutes to go. I then said we need another wicket here to tempt the umpires into the extra half an hour. Hadn't even finished my sentence and Broad had taken off-stump out the ground.
 
I went to the first 3 days, had to go into work yesterday but was due to go to day 5 today. Superb experience and hopefully if the club can get their act together financially it can bid for the Ashes when they come again in 2017. The ground looked class on the telly and the legacy of course is the new stand, which I'm told will be replaced eventually by a permanent one rather than a semi permanent one.

I couldnt believe the Aussie collapse last night. Pathetic really. I'd be gutted if I was Lehmann.
 
I went to the Saturday and Sunday sessions and had a brilliant time. Really enjoyed the cricket - it was a fantastic match as neither team ever really had the ascendancy until that Aussie collapse. I just wish I had been there to see it instead of following all day on TMS and the BBC website. I was really pleased the weather held off apart from a couple of breaks and I think Durham did a fantastic job of organising the event and I am sure the whole region will be given a lift as a result of the very positive impressions everyone seemed to have . I spoke to quite a few people who were up for a few days from the South and they spoke glowingly of the region ( I did ask if they were coping with all the desolate nature of the surroundings - to laughs all round).
 
The cooling off period was bollocks. They ran out of beer. The wait was for an extra delivery as they didn't want to admit they fucked up

they had the cooling period signs up all day warning people there'd be a cooling off period so I suspect you're wrong. :rolleyes:

yea got to agree with this like,last train back to newc,was 7-15,game finished 7-45ish,cue fukn hundreds waiting for the buses for durham,ended up walking to chester-le st.,high st and got the 9pm bus to newc.,saying that nothing could detract from a really brilliant day of test cricket,loved every minute of it

There was a bellend in front of us on Friday who got up and walked out shouting at the people around us saying we had ruined his day. He was the sort taking notes and sat with a clicker counting out each over. If he wanted to be an anorak why sit amongst the people like me who want a laugh, a few beers and a good atmosphere.

He could have come and sat with us in the South West Stand - quiet as a graveyard there. We were just across the aisle from Thommo's bunch of Aussie tourists and they hardly said peep either. It was great watching the antics of the Barmy lot on the other side of the ground - really liked the beer snake, which got a good mention in the Times on Saturday - as did the shocking price of the beer, which was crap as well..

Still liked the beer snake. Also Thommo looked like he'd had a rough few sessions over the years.

Totally agree but it was stupidly positioned as it created the bottleneck. The fact that we are quibbling about such small things shows just how well DCCC did though.

As the most Northern venue in 2015 is Edgbaston I think Headingley is nailed on to get 2019. We'll get World Cup games that year. So barring a miracle 2023 before we next get Ashes. A South Africa test would be great in the meantime.

Im sick of seeing the camera point into the crowd this series at [insert once great australian cricketer > now just a washed up pisshead] over here for 2 month for an easy £10k & as much booze as they can manage.

Tommo has looked in some right states.
 
Went on Sunday to first ever test match. Excellent organisation and worth the money. Tried to get in cheap after tea yesterday as I live locally but ECB still wanted £80 for the last few hours.
