You don't appeal for a specific type of dismissal.

One fielder could appeal for LBW and another for caught behind.

Another could appeal for either - 'either he's hit it or its LBW ump'.

I understand though that if umpire gives it out caught he is implicitly giving it not out LBW V

I was sat near the balconies today - Aleem Dar actually tried to get someone thrown out, or ar least told off, for saying to him 'what's that all about, not giving him out when he was LBW'.

Security refused to go along with it, Dar insisted but security appealed to their boss on the basis that the guy was very light hearted and not remotely abusive.

Umpires decision innit. He wanted to give it for cb , but not lbw

No story

That's not actually true. Caught automatically takes priority over all other types of dismissal apart from bowled. If the umpire thought it had hit pad then bat and was caught, regardless of the fact he was out LBW as well, the catch takes priority. The fact that he was shown not to have nicked it meant that LBW could take its place as the way the wicket had fallen. With the way the DRS rules are set, my thinking is that the fact he was given out should mean umpires call favours the bowler.

Say if I fancied a drink of vodka tomorrow, but wasn't planning on taking any bait with me.

Are there any searches before you get in the ground, or could someone walk in with a bottle of coke without questions?

Umpires call favours the umpire

He didn't think it was lbw

Yes they search your bags.

The more you look like the type to be smuggling in booze, the closer they will search.

He gave it out caught, and was proven he didn't hit it. By giving it out caught it meant he did think it was out leg before, and as it was only clipping it stayed with the umpire. Pretty straight forward.

aye was same for us on the friday gutted i didnt take any rum in, spent a bloody fortune!

Agree with this, unbelievable that he wasnt picked because Bresnan is a better batsman:shock:

Onions should have played instead of Bairstow IMO

We were a bowler short today

Trott is like colly on mogadon

Stokes for Bairstow could be soon

I know that, except the wording of the rules isn't as clear cut as that. The rules state that umpires call means it stays with the on field decision and only defines that as out or not out.

I'm being pedantic of course as it's academic now. It just struck me that the wording of the rules on DRS and its uses confuse the issue in this particular case.

Anyone know the smoking situation?

I know you won't be able to smoke in the stands but do they let you outside the ground?

you can smoke at the back of the stands where the bars are......great day yesterday..absolutely loved it but wtf was the craic with shutting the bars for the hour before tea??? the tannoy announced they were closing for 1 hour from 2.30-3.30...gets down there at 2.15 and the fuckas closed????why do ya need to close them at all???
