4th Ashes Test - Durham

Broad off again. Anyone else irritated by the amount of times players go off these days ?

The non selection of Onions has been crucial so far in my opinion. Him bowling stump to stump as he does making the batsman play would have been incredibly difficult for the Aussies during that first session. 5 down in that first session and we would be well ahead in this game.

Ahh, but we have a cook that doesn't know his onions.

How did we play?

I've been playing cricket myself and will be again tomorrow

First session it was doing allsorts and we needed to capitalise. We bowled OK, Broad bowled very well but 75/3 was decent for the Aussies because it was really difficult. As the ball got softer it didn't do as much and they got on top. They have been much better than us so far due to the fact that that they are ahead having had the more difficult of the conditions - their batsmen applied themselves really well particularly Rogers who rode his luck but played very well.

Agree with this, unbelievable that he wasnt picked because Bresnan is a better batsman:shock:

Shaping up to be a very interesting test match this. Crucial third day.

Blagged our way into hospitality and caned all the free drink :)

Any busses gan past the ground from the town tomorrow before start of play? Just realised the ibe from shields doesnt get there till 11.45.

Why did DRS overturn the Rogers dissmissal that wasn't?
Surely England appealed, the umpire gave out, Rogers appealed, it showed that he didn't nick it but would have been out LBW on umpires call so if there was no nick he should have been out LB So if the umpirehad been wrong about the nick he would have been out on lbwanyway. so the original out decision was right even though he didn't hit the ball. Why overturn an ultimate correct decision?

Appealed for the nick, given, was overturned as he didn't nick it. End of story.

Anyone any clues on my above post like?

Brilliant century for Rodgers really considering how tough it was early on

Deserved his standing ovation from all the crowd which was nice to see

You don't appeal for a specific type of dismissal.

One fielder could appeal for LBW and another for caught behind.

Another could appeal for either - 'either he's hit it or its LBW ump'.

I understand though that if umpire gives it out caught he is implicitly giving it not out LBW V

I was sat near the balconies today - Aleem Dar actually tried to get someone thrown out, or ar least told off, for saying to him 'what's that all about, not giving him out when he was LBW'.

Security refused to go along with it, Dar insisted but security appealed to their boss on the basis that the guy was very light hearted and not remotely abusive.
