Another unpopular opinion that I hold is that examples of stupid people behaving stupidly don't necessarily invalidate a perfectly legitimate concept - which is sensible if applied correctly.

I think this is where H&S has gone wrong, the school ends up in a lose lose position. If it grits the path and someone falls over and gets grit embedded in their knee they are at risk of a complaint/legal action from an angry parent.
If they don't grit the path and a kid slips over and breaks a collar bone - ditto the risk of complaint etc.

My unpopular opinion is that we should accept sometimes both to take responsibility for ourselves and to accept that accidents can and do happen and we shouldn't go suing all and sundry every day.
