I am in a bit of shock that we still have a chance of going through with a top order that includes Stoneman, Smith, Borthwick and Muchall.
borthwick is looking a more than useful batsman to me.

some lovely shots, none better than that drive for 4 off his first ball

He's a useful batsman indeed, but having those 4 in the top order has been more hindrance than help, despite recent results.
fair comment. i am interested as to why, we are not seeing borthwick bowl so much this year. i wonder if he has a side problem, like bopara, that does not affect his batting

Borthwick has been more than handy with the bat. Muchall was very good for the 1st half of this tournament. Smith has contibuted with the ball but should not really be in the team over a specialist. Stoneman has struggled but deserved his chance.

No idea, I don't think I've been as excited about a Durham cricketer as Borthwick, he's got the raw attributes to be a very good leg-spinner and a top-class cricketer overall. Durham are really harming his development IMO by pushing his batting and seemingly leaving his bowling, he will only improve with overs.

I can't fault Borthwick in terms of runs but I think the 4 of them are too similar to be in the same team, ideally I'd be leaving at least 1 of them out, probably Muchall as Smith is an excellent fielder and can be a surprisingly handy off spinner.

Not a chance of qualifying as a lucky loser.
Have to finish 2nd to qualify.

:-?

3rd place teams would need 12 points to beat us

Looks certain in the south div, but not the midlands?

They have 2/3 games left and those teams only need to win 1 or 2 games to pass our score

Somerset need 2/3.
Glamorgan 1/2
Warwickshire 2/2

Far from certain

2 of those things need to happen

Glamorgan play Northants next so that could be them needing to win

Only had 2 decent T20 knocks this season. Had a mare in all his other games.

I dont dispute Stoneman & Borthwicks batting ability; but they have just quite simply been shite in the T20 this year.

Little harsh on Borthwick but Rocky has been poor. It should be cut out for him as well.

Rocky has finally looked like he is fulfilling his potential in the 4 day format but I suppose its to be remembered this is his first season as a limited overs regular. For years he was solely a 4day player (i can see why at the moment).

Great bowling by Rushworth yesterday. I can see him fitting the Killeen format beautifully for the next 5 years hopefully. For all Kileen was dross in his early years he became a pivotol member of our attack in his late 20s, ideal for english pitches.

I knew Rocky quite a bit when he was a kid. Very defensive and watchful player as a young junior and really still like that when he joined Durham. Playing with DiVenuto changed everything for Stoneman and developed his shots and mental attitude a lot and is a completely different player.

I think the season before last he looked in great touch at Somerset early on and got a nasty hand injury that really set him back. I think we would have seen him produce the performances he is now producing in the 4 day game earlier if it wasn't for that injury. He is struggling in 20/20 but it can surely be a level he can do well in given his shot repertoire.

Can't argue with that, I think the club are being rewarded now for sticking with him over the leaner years and he's turning into a great player for us. Potential future captain for a long time to come seemingly too considering the clubs choice to hand him the captaincy for the shorter format. Over the knot for him personally and he's had some glowing reviews this year. His knocks against Surrey were the standout ones for me, barely anyone else made any runs in that game on a difficult track.

As for the T20 lean run, it is strange, but not really such a worry. He'll get there, his form in the CB40 has been excellent for the last two years (atleast) so I'm sure he'll find some form. Hopefully just in time for our Quarter Final ;-)
