Mr Redknapp

Striker
Just watching the Ashes 2005 on Sky and its a shame with hindsight that he did not kick on. They were rightly waxing lyrical over Freddie at the end because I did think at the end of that series that he was going to be one of the best allrounders in the world. but he fell short

thoughts chaps ;-)

Good batsman, great bowler who should have been better and a absolute wanker.

Agreed but the injuries took there toll

Injuries took there toll because he was a pisshead who skipped training and was never fit. If he was born 30 years earlier he would have been a hero, but in the ultra-professional era he played in he wasted everyone's time. His batting was a joke by the end.

He is reduced to doing clothes adverts

is it that why he is not very well liked in the Cricket world? I heard he was unpopular like ;-)

Probably the most unpopular player I've ever known at Lancs, hated from top to bottom.

Big Time Charlie?.

Its funny how times change because Sky on that classic series were talking about how we have been waiting for a new Botham and now they have one. Seems to me that he threw it away after being carried away from 2005, or was he always like that? ;-)

He hates Atherton like

If it was just him coasting along it would probably have been tolerated, but he was an awful influence on the younger pros and ruined many a career. Sold lots of shirts though.....

If he'd had the attitude for it you could take 10 off his bowling average and add 10 to his batting and we'd be taking about an all-time great. As it is, he's an also-ran who believed his own hype. He has more money than most other players of his generation though, so I guess he doesn't see it that way.

He was always mentioned in a positive light when he was playing but he never really gets mentioned in a cricketing sense these days and slagging off Atherton in public was not a wise move.

He had an amazing series in 2005 and I remember his red eyes when they went on that parade. Looked like that was the moment where he thought the lad had it made.

And mentioning Simon Jones, it's no wonder he and Flintoff had such an influence on that series

Great fielder, superb bowler, destructive batsman but exceptionally poor lifestyle choices.
