Quite a few of them at it today, Agar in particular but Haddin and Siddle also. I suppose it may have been nerves but it was satisfying to see them out. Credit to Clarke though, his post match comments to Atherton were sporting and measured.

Botham's prediction of 10 - 0 is ridiculous and I think both series will be tight, enjoyed every minute of today's play.

TBH, the Aussies seem a decent bunch when interviewed but put them on a cricket pitch and I can't stand any of the buggers.

Strange but they affect me exactly the same. England v Australie = Sunderland v Newcastle!

Not really. ;-)

They're our biggest, oldest and bitterest rivals and continually rubbed our noses in defeat for years until a few years back (and even in our recent good times, they beat us 5-0).

Strange as in my view coincides with yours, not that I hate the bastards.

To be honest as a set of blokes I preferred them when they had a top side. Always played hard on the field but were a decent bunch off it. This lot seem to have some massive chips on their shoulders. Warner is a grade a tool, and none of the 7 or 8 Aussies I know have a good word to say about Clarke as a bloke or a cricketer

Very harsh on agar the lad seemed to just enjoying his whole time out there.

Plays with a smile on his face cannit knock him for that

McGrath and Warne were always ripping the piss. Knocking up fake newspapers with headlines like "Shock at the cricket - England fail to collapse for once" for example. Tossers.

Still not out of the question, although I too think it's unlikely there is definitely a gulf between the sides.

Australia got close in this game due to England's shocking first innings batting and two freakish tenth-wicket partnerships. I think they'll look back on this game at the end of the series as their best (probably only) chance to win a test.

Quite possibly correct. We won the test with half of our attack failing to show up too. I expect Swann to be better as the series goes on as he hasnt had too many overs under his belt coming into the first test. Im quite happy Agar got that big score cos it means he will keep his place ahead of Lyons.
