Agreed. Poor captaincy throughout.

The weather forecast is cloud day one, sun days two to five, you have the best swing bowler in the world so you...let the opposition have a go.

You have the best swing bowler in the world making head way against the tail end, do you leave him on to mop up the 10th wicket, or take him off.

Madness.

agreed. Does not matter what the pitch was like you give the opportunity for the Aussies to get the upper hand they will jump at it.

Worst post on the thread.

There was about 5 clouds in the sky on Wednesday, and they were gone by 2.00pm. Cook, Clarke, Flower, Lehmann, every journalist in England and Australia, every commentator on the BBC and Sky and even the Trent Bridge groundsman said the wicket was baked and you have to bat first.

Anderson had 1st go at Agar as well, at the end of a long spell.

Trying to have 20/20 hindsight instead of looking at a poor 1st innings batting performance is just bullshit.

You should stick to subjects you know a bit about Smoker. I have captained cricket teams at different levels, there were dozens of experts with thousands of international caps on sky, 5 live extra and many other media outlets. Most would have batted and others said it was tricky and not a bad toss to lose - none have went close to calling it madness
