Always been a massive cricket fan, quite good understanding of the game but a fairly average player. I play in the midweek league for my old work, generally opening the bowling and batting down the order.

Have no idea what has happened this season, I seem unable to pitch the ball on a good length, getting little movement off the pitch or in the air (not helped by the pink friking balls we use) and feel like I'm batting with a toothpick.

My fitness is not what it should be (did my calf muscle in Feb and my ankle hasn't felt 100% since) but at my age (37) am now considering calling it a day - lost my action, can't bat and now getting involved in verbals with the other teams/umpires when things go against us....

Time to declare?

Time to have a break. Not call it a day. I've played with and against blokes in their 70s.

For club cricket you are still considered a youth

It's maybe time to just start taking it a bit less seriously ;-)
