Breaking news this thread

Aye whey. Couldn't be arsed with the game threads because they're depressing. Hopefully this loss means the team can concentrate on the proper cricket on Monday.

f***ing baffles me why the likes of Borthwick/Smith have come in ahead of Stokes in previous games. I'd even go as far to say I wouldn't mind seeing Breesey pushed right up the order.

I'd have Breese at three as a pinch hitter if he comes in during the powerplay. Having Borthwick there's like having Trott at no:3 in T20.

Shocking performance in this tournament again. Easily 70 runs shy on what was a lovely batting track.

70 short give over man
They knocked the runs off in the 13th over. 7 overs to spare by my reckoning.

At least 70 runs short.

Edit - sorry 4 and a bit overs left. Still 50 to 70 runs short.

Too many nudges & nurdlers in the top order. Borthwick in particular has had a nightmare this comp.

I think THAT time chanderpaul had a horror showing on T20 final day (even Colville mentioned it today) its sounded the death knoll ever since for DCCC in limited overs cricket...

Hard to really argue with The Colonel or Mackem DJ in this instance.

I remember in the early days Durhams tactic was for every incoming batsman to have a few balls to have a look and then go hard at it - I seem to remember reading that somewhere from what a player had said - whereas at the time Leicestershire's (in an interview with Paul Nixon) tactic was to have one ball to get your eye in and then go for it.

My point being, we were way off with our tactics then and it seems that's the case now. I actually think the way they fucked about at Yorkshire proves my point. Albeit they got out of that one thanks to some cracking hitting late on.

Wood is a promising bowler but is lacking control atm. Where is Callum Thorp!? Why not chuck Harrison in for a game? Where has Jennings been....?

I can see this season petering out thanks to our big players missing for one reason or another & next year having a thread bare squad. Finances & Rifts in mind i could see the likes of Pringle, Harrison, Morley etc being regulars in all formats next season...

And T20 is shit.

The ECB really are great. closing down the real cricket during the period of the summer with the longest days and the best weather so we can have a pajama competition and then restart the most important competition afterwards so that the remaining games have to to be shoehorned into a few weeks at the end with fading light and crap weather. Meanwhile the England team are about to embark on a very important test series and everybody will be concerned that we continue to give our test side the best possible preparations.

Not being funny but playing T20 during the best part of the summer will do NOTHING for the progress of future England sides.

Let me know when the 4 day stuff restarts and hopefully this ridiculous break won't have damaged Durham's momentum too much.

To the OP - Durham CCC are a cricket club and they are pretty good at it. T20 is not real cricket anymore than 5-a-side is real football.

Can you see your glass?

Is it half empty again?

Maybe Durham including T20 tickets in the membership was a message 'Aye, alright lads, we're expecting to do shit this year with no overseas player so we won't fleece you' ;-)

T20 is the Cricketing equivalent of going fishing only for a truck to turn up as soon as you paddle your boat out to dump 5,000 Fish into the lake. It takes away the skill & challenge of the game.

Good post.

Again people criticising 20/20 yet it brings the biggest crowds in the county game, fact! If we had bothered to actually get some decent overseas players in the last few seasons we may not be in so much financial trouble as the crowds would have been bigger and we would have won some prize money.

Although I agree we need an overseas player, i can never remember Pollock, Styris, Taylor, Morkel etc pulling up any trees for us in T20...

They never really did.

Good for the odd six but nothing startling. There is a long line of 'stars' who have played at DCCC in 20/20 in last 10 years and it never really worked.
