What the fuck is happening with this lad? Batting 3 and can't get a bowl before Will Smith and 2nd teamers, he was playing for England less than 12 months ago in India.

From what I gather he's always been a very capable batsman at youth level and he certainly looks like a good timer of the ball with plenty of batting potential, but I find it baffling that he can't seem to get a bowl at all recently. For all his weaknesses he can bowl wicket taking balls and is always attacking the batsman, like a good leg spinner should.

I fear he's going to fall to the typical English spinner disease where all natural instinct is coached out of him as he bowls too many bad balls and can go for runs, and the traditional spin bowler in this country is used to hold an end up and bowl to a defensive field.

Hope Durham reassess what they are doing with him, all well and good encouraging his batting but he could be a top class all-rounder with work on both.

Will hopefully come into his own with the ball through July and August (traditionally the only two months of the year whereby leg spinners get conditions which suit)

Said this a few days ago. Playing for England a year ago yet now he is behind Smith, Breese, Pringle, Buckley, Morley in the spinning category. ridiculous.

He is never a number 3 in T20 neither imho.

Definitley not mate, he's barely a YB40 number 3 let alone a T20 one.

Durham have pigeon holed him as a 2nd innings bowlers, more turn for him but holding him back in progressing his bowling, as only bowlers in favorable conditions now.

I agree with the OP. I'm not against his batting being pushed in the way it is and I'm happy with him learning his trade as a number 3 but I cant understand the lack of trust with the ball. When he does bowl now he cant feel relaxed and confident.

Yeah but we are winning games, so it's working for the good of the team

Agreed. Good batsman, good bowler for me who could be Swann's long term replacement. Warne rates him highly and says he didn't get the hang of leg spin til late 20s/early 30s. Love seeing Scott get runs, he will go far.
