34 now and picking up more injuries by the year.

Is there anyone earmarked as his long term replacement?

Tredwell is a good one day bowler but doesnt take first class wickets.

Dont particularly rate Monty anymore on pitches that don't spin.

Is there anyone coming through? Who plays for the lions?

Was meant to be borthwick, but they don't seem to rate him anymore

Borthwick is very wayward and expensive unfortunately. Plus Durham don't use him if it isn't turning. Scott does have his batting and fielding ability to back him up though, which could be a valuable tool to England who seemingly like their spinners to be able to bat a bit considering most pitches here don't turn until Day 3/4.

They all are as youngsters... I'd say they should be sticking with him

Monty still comfortably 2nd best choice for test matches and the same probably goes for Tredwell in one dayer.
Outside bet for two or three seasons down the line Azeem Rafiq at Yorkshire. Like Swann an off spinner who turns it and probably a solid no8 or no9 in the batting line up.

Briggs is a very good limited overs bowler but has a very moderate county record. Rashid would be ideal if he can return to the form he showed around 3 years ago.

Panesar is too defensive for me and doesn't offer anything in the other 2 aspects of the game,

I can see Tredwell being used as a stop gap until someone like Rashid, Borthwick or Rafiq is more the polished article.

Swann will retire from one day cricket and 20/20 cricket and just play test cricket would imagine in the near future which will give him another 3 years or so in international cricket

Rashid maybe, but he just appears to be a batsman that bowls a bit at the moment

The problem for Rashid and Borthwick as leg spinners is will they ever gain the control to be able to play as the the only spinner in a four man attack like Swann does or what Warne did for years for the Aussies.
Both have the potential to be good enough to bat in the top 7 for England and probably their best bet to play for England would be as a second spinner in a five man attack.
