LVCC D1 - Durham v Middlesex

They just don't fancy it!

No play before 3:30 at the earliest I'd say, meaning the draw looks inevitable. Robbed by the rain it seems :-(

It implies that they're sure it won't improve sufficiently to play in the next hour and gven a howling wind to dry things I find it a surprising that they can be so clairvoyant.
Maybe it's just years of experience and a word in the ear from the groundstaff.

That sounded like some sort of ground announcement on the tannoy, hopefully we'll get an update soon.

Here we go. Tea taken at 3.40 and play to start at 4pm. Still mopping up apparently.

Possible 3½ hour session.

Need to get 30 overs of play in today to try and get 200 lead by close of play then declare half hour before lunch tomorrow
Should get 50+, and with a bit of positivity might then be 300 ahead. Or all out.

3.5 hours? Is that correct? Thought they could only add on an extra 30 minutes (to the original finish of 6pm). Which would be 32 overs plus 8 (?).

Either way, the playing hours in county cricket need an overhaul, similar to how they do in Test Matches.

Raining again now and heavy rain forecast from 4pm, plus it's dark. I'm not optimistic there'll be any play today at all.

Covers back on and raining again after the players were out on the field, not heavy rain yet, but enough to prevent a start.

Here we go, the players are on their way out and it's not raining for now, but the lights still poor, batting won't be easy in this.
