Sunday Sun

Not the Murdoch rag but our very own local paper;-) Superb for local sport especially the cricket. I imagine they must have a few on the phones non stop on Saturday night gathering the scores in for the Sunday paper.

Love a Sunday morning reading through it seeing how the Saturday events unfolded throughout the local leagues8-)

There's always Harmi's pulsating column to read- about how much he loves playing for Durham-but cannot be arsed to get himself fit to do so.

I'm willing to bet a portion of his scribblings are taken up with Steve Harper playing his last game for NUFC. Harper and Harmy have a lot in common, they both picked up massive wages for not playing in the 1st team.

No results in it today. They have got our league wrong though which is annoying me! They have us down as winning 0 and we won last week, they have the league tables in today.

The NEDCL website didn't have the scorecard from your game so couldn't update the table accordingly.

not much more could be done on our part (particularly as an away side). Our card, and even the home team's, was delivered by us to the league fixture secretary's doorstep just 60 minutes after the last ball has been bowled

I took them personally to Mr Ingrams house both home and away sheets on the way home from the game.
His wife took them as he was at the Rainton game.

Well then i'm guessing the league fixture secretary doesnt speak to whoever is supposed to be updating the leagues on the supposedly official league website.

Its a joke really that the info isnt passed over so the up to date league tables can be published on a monday

Long after my playing days had finished the cricket club was still more than a regular haunt. Use to get sick of the phone ringing about 7pm on a Saturday night with people from other clubs or newspapers asking for scores. Favourite trick for me was when someone rang for the second team score and I answered it I would tell them the correct scores but then add on that redandwhiterob had scored over 30 and took more than 3 wickets thus getting my name in the paper on a number of occasions

Childish I know but myself and my mates thought it was funny:-D

Rang loads in and stuck a couple on to get lads a mention in the paper

Normally buy the Sunday sun for the cricket scores and to see how my old colleague Meek scored. Good player and canny lad
