hadnt scored any runs for 3 plus overs so got frustrated IMO. Need to be bit tougher than that as 5 days is a long time so no need to do what he did

I agree, and he isnt good enough. I just find that many look at from an England angle only. I think it was decent bowling by NZ.

pitch looks very slow, batsman are waiting for the ball, might be one of those that takes time to get yourself in on get and use to the pace of the pitch then run scoring gets a bit easier

NZ are a tight batting unit, very disciplined.

I hope Root comes in ahead of Bairstow

KP will wander off down the rent-a-bat route before long, and Taylor is ahead of Stokes IMO. Our lad has to sort out his discipline off the pitch and at the crease.

He doesn't score enough runs Stokes currently.

Having a fourth seamer who can bat at 6 is priceless in test cricket, especially in this day and age when countries produce very good bowlers but no stand out world class bowlers like Steyn who is the expception

True enough, but Stokes doesn't do either at the minute.

At the age of 21 to have 83 first class wickets at 28 and a batting average of nearly 37 having played all his cricket in division one is outstanding. Once he has matured a bit and gets that consistency which will come sooner rather than later it will be Englands gain

I tend to agree.
