It's here again folks, Test Match cricket in the English summer!

Very excited for this Series, especially following the NZ performance over there. They played well/We played shite - which has given this series a bit of meaning and impetus. For me anyway.

The County fixtures have also worked out quite well, with us being the odd side in the 9, leading to us having a free week, I'll be able to get stuck into this and enjoy it properly.

The Lions were giving the Kiwis a bit of a hiding in the warm-up mind so I'd hope we can brush them aside with our lads getting some confidence ready for the Aussies - which of course is the Main, Dessert and Cheeseboard of the summer :lol:.

For what its worth (not much), below is what I'd like to see on Thursday. I know it won't be like, but seeing how tonight I'm enjoying listing my team selections, here goes -

Cook
Root
Trott
Compton
Bell
Bairstow
Prior
Bresnan
Swann
Anderson
Finn

Carrying the drinks - Broad.

Aye, thats what I fear. You'll be right. Makes no f***ing sense though. Root opens for his county and for the Lions, hes also in cracking form. Compton bats down the order for his county..... Seems a no brainer. I think Compton is also the kind of bloke who could come in at 20-2 and just graft away for a couple of hours, holding up one end.

Broad is the golden boy, but I think hes a twat. So Bresnan for me please.

He gets some stick but he will be key for us this summer I reckon.

Root batted 3 for the lions
 
I'd keep Compton opening, think him and Cook are the right combo to grind out a 50+ partnership, which is solid enough.

If Root and Bairstow carry on their championship form he could be pushed out when KP is back mind

Compton hasn't got it, he's just filling a spot, so muck him about as much as you want while Root develops.

Bresnan to miss out, Jimmy to break through 300 Test wickets, century for Captain Cook, England to win easily.
