The Durham Miners' Association says it will only end protests over Paolo Di Canio being named Sunderland manager if the club joins an anti-fascist campaign.

These people need to either get a proper job, a lass or a life.

What gives these ' petty dictators' the idea that they can control people's thoughts?

Is this 2013 or '1984'?

Anyone got any idea why rob mason is involved in these talks. He writes the programme doesn't be?

Also why are the Durham miners involved in anything to do with anti fascism? This doesn't wire up to me?

All slightly bizarre.

This.

When did the the Durham miners becomes spokespeople for anti fascism? In fact why are they so heavily involved in all of this now? Something just not right here.

"We live in dangerous times and there is a problem with the far-right in the area."

I'll say, there's countless people I've had to stop on the street from goose stepping, carrying a sign with an arrow pointing towards Poland.

It's ironic that what this episode has revealed is that we seem to have a problem with an unaccountable left wing. I see no evidence of any sort of far right activity involved in any of this.

This has got to be a LW group pulling their strings. I smell an agitator behind the scenes.

Seems to me the miners are keeping the issue in the media without reason, which inceases the potential for extremists to latch onto it

If the club gives in to these Marxists then where does this end? Can't say I'm comfortable with a marginalised group such as the DMA issuing demands and threats to anyone.

They really, really, really need to stick that f***ing banner up their arses like.

This
Disturbingly I fear that these people seem to think that SAFC and its support is some left wing organisation one whose loyalty is being challenged by Pdc

Granted most may vote labour but isn't that a centre left party that slowly gravitating to the right

Exactly

I a leftist at heart hate the conservatives but these utter bellends are making a mockery of of a non issue that is being put aside by the vast majority

Why

The club should have taken the banner down and delivered it to the Miners Hall with no publicity. The fact that the club have met them seems to have given the DMA hierarchy justification to make more demands. The more this minority group are in the press the more it will dictate to people in the area because it believe it still has power and privilege.

They're turning in to the North East's version of The Society of Black Lawyers, the people's thought police. Totally daft publicity seeking, what they expect to achieve is beyond me.

Definitely seems to me that some or one highly political individual are agitating behind the scenes here. The club will look extremely weak if they pander to an organisation such as the DMA. Since when did they carry any sort of weight around here?

Can I just ask everyone to play nice please?

Let's try to remember, in all this insanity, that a few sad deluded nutters don't represent ALL the Durham miners just as Billy Bragg doesn't represent the music industry.

If I see any of you lot falling out I'll be round

They dont speak for all miners, my uncle was a durham miner, was married to a black women and has mixed race kids and has no problem at all with pdc. Stick your f***ing protest up your arse media whores.

Fuck them.
I'm a socialist and from mining stock, these fuckers do not represent me.
