Just been emailed this off Marty.....
Right, some good news kiddies. It's been a horribly long winter in more ways than one, but things are on the up!
My winter hasn't been helped by a back injury, which decided to rear it's head in late September and then return with a vengeance six weeks ago. It's left me in limbo. But the green shoots of recovery are on the horizon.
Despite the fact it was one of the most horrible moments in my life, I had an injection in my spine yesterday and am hoping this will bring relief in time for the start of the cricket season. And that is the main reason for this piece.
The winter was also tempered by the news I was moving from sport back into news after 13 years. The chances were we would not be doing any cricket commentaries any more either. The BBC has been faced with unprecedented cuts and this has led to major job losses and a re-think in the way we do things.
However, the powers that be have been hard at work behind the scenes and I can now confirm we will be covering the cricket again - and we will be bringing you more of it.
The plan is to make sure there is commentary of every game home and away in each competition! (I know I couldn't quite believe the news either.) But from looking like we were going to be left with nothing last year, this is amazing news.
What's more I will be bringing you the majority of those Durham Cricket commentaries as well. More motorway miles for me but hopefully it will all be worth it! And I look forward to your continued support online and on Twitter. So spread the word and I hope I will be hearing from you all soon.

f***ing excellent news. I'd love to think my vicious email to the BBC complaints department played a part
