Supporting Scotch Teams

I've no idea but when I moved here I tried to watch the football up here but could never engender any feeling for it whatsoever.
after 3 games of trying to get into local football and trying to keep up with the Lads I couldn't bear it anymore and renewed my season ticket for the SOL and started travelling to the games.

I would say the same as I said to St Joe's the other night - if your Auld Firm team was playing the lads where would your loyalty lie .
Clue here - my username says EcosseMACKEM
St Joe's Lad has an avatar that is predominately Green over Red and White and his Username tells everyone where his loyalties lie - most people would connect the name of his Alma Mata to Celtic long before they would link a tenuous clue to Sunderland.
If there are occasional examples of people who can feel the same about 2 clubs then fair comment but anyone who refers to an Auld Firm club as "us" or "my club" should fuck off to their respective boards

its from an old celtic v sunderland programme and i go to all sunderland home games and some away not that i have to explain myself to you like i said last week when you started off the same rubbish.

So why do you not call yourself Birtley Mackem and have an avatar that shows Sunderland first and foremost

Good post and so true.

i tryed pick a few different names with birtley in but they were all taken, the only thing i could think of was my parish and school in birtley

sorry to appear cynical. but to call yourself St. Joes Lad and have a largely Celtic presence in your avatar would appear a little "look at me I support Celtic"

The last thing I would have thought of when choosing my name would have been my school or religion or parish

Mine was - I live in Scotland and I'm a Sunderland supporter

The allegiance to one of the two Glasgow bigots has nothing to do with football. It's medieval shit.

I'm not religious. How dare I support Rangers.

if I posted something like this, I would have been slated for it. I'm criticised for putting Sunlun supporters down and yet you've just posted that. Follow Sunlun home & away for years but I should fuck off because I grew up following Rangers. Really?

God, there are some wankers on this board. I support Sunderland, always have always will.

But I also watch out for Hibs and Hearts too, as I used to live there. Do you have a problem with this? And to answer your juvenile question, yes I would support Sunderland if we were ever to meet in Europe. Chance is slim mind, considering how we appear to be happy to just aim for top 10 every year.

I also have a team here in Singapore. Does this make me a turncoat? Or just someone who likes football?

i am talking about kingdom bhoy mate, never met a bigger sunderland fan
Sunderland are my first team Celtic my second side as for what I would do if they played each other I would want SAFC to win as I have done the three times I have seen us play at Celtic Park including the 2 0 victory in 1973.
I support Celtic because it was my old mans team and after he passed away my interest in them increased as a tribute to his memory ( ironically he took me to my first match at Roker Park and encouraged me to support Sunderland ) but I grew up in Sunderland and thats why they are my number one team and always will be. I'm sure plenty of SAFC fans on here support Sunderland as a result of family loyalty.
As has been said on this thread many of the Celtic/Rangers fans on here watch SAFC home and away in person I wonder if some of the people on here having a go at them can say the same thing.
Thanks st joes lad I will see you after the Fulham home match marra.

Great post but without any disrespect to you - your username alludes to Celtic and not Sunderland, as does a few on here.
Your friend St.Joes Lad says similar things but leaves more clues to his allegiance to Celtic to any allegiance to Sunderland.
Forgive us people who support only one team for any confusion - I'm not sure how I could fit in supporting another team with the 1000+ Sunderland games I've managed over the last 40 years

hehehe your like a dog with a bone,i tryed to choose a few different names with birtley connections but they were all gone, the only one i could think of was st joes my parish and lad as in haway the lads,it had feck all to do with celtic,my avator is an old celtic v sunderland programme

Look at me - I'm trying to justify my love for Celtic over and above any allegiance to Sunderland

I see what you mean to an extent but my avator is a can of Double Maxim which has big Sunderland links 'Kingdom ' - Kerry is the part of Ireland where my old man was from.
