India vs England First Test

bit of a misleading stat that - in games with swann & panesar in the team our record is 4 draws and 3 losses [or was it the other way round i've forgotten already]

in matches where we should be playing two spinners our record with only one spinner in the side is probably even worse!

Panasear has been shit in the warm ups seems to get better every time he's not in the team. Pretty average bowler should have brought another spinner.

Well after 1day we are basically out of winning it bar a huge batting collapse early in the morning

England are simply a waste of time on the sub continent, especially in India.
No penetration on flat tracks from the much vaunted pace attack, and as usual the batsmen will be embarrased by spin.
I envisage another heavy defeat here and a total drubbing in the series.

We are never going to do very well on the international stage for a continued period of time because our bowlers are bought up on such bowler friendly wickets. We have had a fortunate run of fixtures and have now been found out in that we have two world class players in Cook and KP, some good players underneath them and some average ones below them.

You do not stay as number 1 side in the world when not one of your bowling attack has a career average under 30

The career average element is a it neither here nor there I think. Anderson has an average of 27 over the last 4 years for example. However some valid points - why did it take all seamers until after lunch to realise you have to bowl at the stumps on piches that are low, slow and dont offer swing. I didnt expect the quicks to run through them but I did at least expect them to apply pressure.

Going at over 4 for quick bowlers on slow pitches is pathetic really.

Some pics in MS Paint from the first day.

How many time did Sky slip up this morning?

Obviously the Sky commentators are doing it live from a studio in London

They've made no secret that the commentators are in England. Atherton is out there and was taking the piss out of Nasser for having to work through the night in the freezing cold, while he was sunning it up in India.

Wonder why when Bumble said "our colleagues over there" Beefy pushed him as if to say shut up & Bumble put his hand over his face?

I take it you missed all the test matches of the last Winter?

Its obvious cos they said they are doing exactly that

Bumble was taking the piss as he said ages ago on Twitter that they were doing it all from back home.

Correct.

Why are they doing it like that? I thought the Sky commentary team always travelled to our overseas tours.

Money, I assume. I know the pundits in the studio rarely go to tours but the commentators normally do. But if they can keep them in this country and it's to no detriment to the quality of the coverage then I can see why.
