Any news on whether the meeting re junior cricket has taken place yet and what the outcome was.

I'm guessing that the Coast League wont agree to go to pairs cricket and that it might be the end for that format of the game?

Don't think it has taken place yet and the only indication so far is that the Durham board are going to take centralised control.

I can only speak for my club - and having discussed this with the other coaches quite recently our vote will definitely be going to the abolition of pairs cricket. My impression is that it's pretty much scoffed at across the Coast League but I suppose it's for each club to work out their position on it if there's going to be a vote of the clubs in the new League.

Good news IMHO. I hope the majority think like this.
 
If Durham CB run it i'd suggest they'll stick with the ECB recommendations for each age group which means you'll have pairs cricket at U11s and 13s and 'proper' cricket at U15s. I'll find out for you though.

*Disclaimer before Sweeper jumps on me. - This certainly used to be the recommendations when I did my level 2 it may have changed.

The craic was that pairs cricket was definately going at U13 level. The argument will be about what to do at U11 level, however as said previously it'll be interesting too see what the Coast League make of having to go to pairs cricket when they already play proper cricket. For them they will see it as a retrograde step.

Anyone have any news on any meetings that may have taken place recently?

Just put 2 and 2 together and realised that Jack burnham is related to us. I have an Uncle, now deceased and an Auntie from Langley Park, my Uncle is/was called....Jack Burnham. He had 3 brothers and I'm assuming that the young JB is one of their grandsons/great grand sons.

Remind me of the format here?

Is it something like each team plays the other once and then the top half go into the first division and the bottom half into a second division? I'm assuming that the likes of Burnmoor will be favourites to top the league?

That is the format - and yes I think burnmoor would be favourites now. Suppose a lot will depend on player movements this winter though.
 
Wouldn't count out the likes of Esh Winning. Very good team and more than capable of winning that league. Look at Kimblesworth when they where promoted, walked it in their first season.

Can't speak for the Coast league teams, but the difference between Senior league teams and County league teams is quite small.
