Best North East Cricket Club?

Anyone got any suggestions for who would be in the running for the best NE cricket club, based on perhaps the following criteria:

1. Success,
2. Senior set up
3. Junior setup
4. All round good atmosphere ie people made to feel welcome
5. Record of producing home grown talent for the senior sides
6. Facilities and ground

In essence a good all round, well run club.

Do say South North and CLS win this award by a country mile based on their NEPL record and national achievements?

Paying fortunes out though surely

Local cricket is shite now, staggering some of the quality of players getting paid in leagues like the senior compared to say 20 year ago when in the vast majority of teams only the pro got paid
 
Not sure about there Junior set up as i don't pay much attention to junior cricket personally, but whenever ive been down to Burnmoor Cricket Club to watch it been packed full of people, mainly lads i play cricket against but always a good bit of chat, lovely ground, well maintained, nice club house and the standard of cricket is good.

Pretty much ticks the boxes.
 
I watch burnmoor every saturday in the summer as its 2 mins walk. They have a healthy youth set up (ive watched a lot of 15s znd 18s this summer) and a very capable first team. Firsts weredestroying everyone in july and aug. However, there is never anyone watching unless the sun is splitting the trees. There are a bunch of old blokes who sit under the scoreboard and that is about it. Never understand how that clubs has so much money. I should add, im not a member as im not a great fan - usually root for the oppo

I think its always had a bit of a thriving social scene and other than The Floaters there arent a lot of bars within a mile or so. John Kay lives just over the road from the church BTW in the bungalows.

That last sentence made me laugh, can just imagine you doing that!

Washington sounds like a good shout for best run club btw.

Up and coming club. About to take their place in the NEPL, great junior setup and supposedly about to build a new club house. Also heard that a high profile coach is due to go there this summer.

Went over the week before last to watch the U11/U13 finals day. The potential was there for all too see. There are obviously plenty of people willing to help out.

Didnt know about john kay. Will be looking out. Dun cow is amuce better boozer than the floaters but i take your point. I know that the cricket club does a decent sunday linch so they may do decent money on meals as well as drink.

Re the original question, although ive never played for them, the NAS used to play home games at Ryhope which dlways seemed to be a brilliantly run club.
 
How about Sacriston

Thriving Junior Set up, Senior sides regularly performing well in their leagues, progressing now to NEPL2.

Facilities on the up, new pavilion etc.

Wicket could do with a bit work though.

Well we're certainly trying to get it off the ground!! Loads of work to be done but if everyone who has expressed interest in going to the club pulls in the right direction then i'm sure we'll get it going again!!

Poor covers from what I have seen but very well set up on the playing side

On a serious note though, each bullet point the OP made can probably in itself be broken up into its own debate. The more successful clubs on the field for example have a lot of money to spend and therefore you would expect them to have better facilities etc. The more welcoming clubs with the better atmospheres may be run down and battered clubs with poor on-field performance but great crack.

I think what I'm trying to say is that it would be near impossible to say that any one club is the best - as all of us have our own criteria as to what makes a club great. Personally I wouldn't rather play anywhere else than Brandon and I wouldn't want to go for a pint anywhere else than Brandon - but of course a bloke from Ushaw Moor would rather go there, as would a lad from Burnmoor want to go to Burnmoor. And so forth.

I always think Bill Quay and Felling seem like homely clubs and they both have cracking youth systems at the minute.

Yeah South North & CLS are the 2 best clubs for adults, not sure on kids development.

hetton lyons and CLS in my opinion

suprised nobody has not mentioned ashbrooke/sunderland clubhouse fantastic and ots of other facilities within such as a gym, squash courts, tennis courts and a 5 a side pitch.The only problem for a junior is that you have to pay over £200 for a membership every year which will probably put a lot of parents from taking their child their

Reason noone mentioned them is cos they are stuck up wankers and always have been. CLS and sunderland do have good youth cricket amongst others, but neither gets many of their youths into 1st team - prefer to import from elsewhere
 
Both Mark Turner and Chris Rushworth played junior, 2nd eleven and 1st team cricket for Sunderland, a decent achievement for their coaches.
