I think you have proved your point - time to show a bit of class.

Just think it's unfair on Borthwick. Just got a half century in the last few minutes, really pleased for him to be proving his worth in the squad.

He should be congratulated for his important contribution to our change in fortune in the last 6 weeks or so.

Been a big effort by the team

Just the 1 wicket, 1 catch and 1 run out for borthwick in the last 20 mins

after having a stupid opinion rammed down our throats endlessly you can't fault him for pointing out the stupidity of it surely?

carry on scotty :lol::lol:

Stupid? Fuck off.

Not even in the top 100 list for the LVCC this season.

The reason he doesn't bowl much has been mentioned many times on here and at the games. All about opinions but its admirable you continue to be the only one sharing that opinion..

Haway Randle man - as much as WHED is a complete pain in the arse at times sometimes events prove you wrong and you should be man enough to admit it. Borthwick should be in the Durham team home and away and his contribution in recent wins have proved that beyond a doubt. Hes a vital player.

He has done better of late. When I posted the thread he wasn't bowling and averaged fuck all with the bat. He was a complete passenger in the team.

How often have you watched borthwick live in person this season?

In fairness WHED i've hardly seen him this year but I have forgotten more about cricket than you will ever know ;-)

Just find it a tad poor how over critical some have been yet haven't been arsed to praise the club.

Currently involved in the highest partnership of the Durham innings with Phil Mustard at the moment.

another important inns today 35

Indeed, he's performing very well indeed with bat, ball and fielding. Vast majority of the players had a tough team earlier in the season, but recently we've played some very good cricket and Borthwick has been heavily involved in that very good cricket.

Congratulations to Scott Borthwick who was voted young player of the season last night.

Selected for the England performance squad as well

that is total f***ing horse shite and you know it man you're just being a pain in the arse for the sake of it.

Calm down dear. There really isn't an issue when someone questions that player's inclusion in the team.

Of all the players (9) to play 13 first class matches or more he scored the 3rd least amount of runs ahead of Thorp and Onions.

His average was also 4th lowest of those players behind Thorp, Onions and Smith.

In 17 innings bowling in first class matches he only bowled 130.4 overs. 7.67 per innings.

Onions, Thorp, Rushworth, Stokes, Blackwell and Claydon all took more wickets and with a better strike rate. Of them, only Claydon had a worse economy rate and average.

Everyone has chucked their toys out the pram on this thread for some reason and even if you don't agree, my opinion is immensely justifiable.

*To keep the hillbilly happy I will mention that he took the most catches ('keeper apart).

Some valid points, as I said before the T20, Borthwick was struggling and wasn't even selected for the Somerset away game (though if you believe rumours, it wasn't who you think who selected the squad for that game).

We got the most bowling points in the league, was very little reason most of the time to stop bowling our fast bowlers, they have been excellent this season. Main reason he hasn't bowled much this season.

Just a shame you have hardly praised the lad since you criticised him and I don't even think you've praised the team for their change in form.

I've praised him and said he's a good player numerous times! My gripe was that he wasn't bowling and batting 8. It just seemed a total waste. I've even suggested moving him up the order like has been done in the past just so that he's actually doing something. I like Borthwick, always have done. Played with him and against him countless times over the years.

As for the team in general, I'm not sure I have really criticised them? Or praised them. I hardly ever post on threads matchday threads etc.

I'm not angry - just stuck between thinking you are wrong and jsut on a wind up...

I must be reading this wrong like....

So out of 9 players who played 13 or more games he was 6th in runs scored and 5th in batting average. I'd say that is fairly spot on for a number 8.

he was 9th overall for the team in bat average, 8th if you take out wood who only played once.

only 4 bowlers bowled more overs than him if you discount blackwell who obviously is behind scotty in the pecking order now.
likewise only 4 bowlers took more wickets than him. in a season where weather dictated that swing would be a much more potent weapon than turn.

his bowling average was substantially better than blackwell's and his batting average was better than jennings, mustard, smith, thorp & muchall amongst others.

not really sure what you want from him :-?
