Lancashire v Durham - LVCC D1

I honestly dont think he has got what it takes to be an opening batsman in the CC. He's nearly 26 now, has a first class average of less than 30 with no real signs that he is about to push on and do anything of much note. He's another one, like Muchell, who is more suited to the limited overs game. I wouldnt give him a CC contract.

one of our highest averages in the CC plus when he has made scores it has been when needed, quite a few match winning innings recently, his upsurge in form has coincided with our surge up the table, him and rushworth have been instrumental in our rallyalong with some decent form with bat and ball from stokes [mainly ball bar one innings recently tbf]

only just started playing one day cricket this year, bar i think 1 game, and has been in sparkling form, dont agree he is more suited to that as he is hardly a clubber

Start delayed due to rain. I flew into Manchester from Abu Dhabi this morning and there wasn't a cloud in the sky south of Nottingham and nice fluffy white ones the rest of the way up to Manchester (blue skies now). Typical that we play them in Liverpool when the weather finally shows up in Manchester

No play before lunch. Inspection at 12:30. Onions just posted a pic on twitter and the sun is beating down.

1:30 start.

Stoneman, Jennings, Richardson, Stokes, Benkenstein, Collingwood, Mustard, Borthwick, Thorp, Onions , Rushworth.

Lancs batting first.

first class average = 27.46
recent first class scores = 0, 22, 46, 114, 6, 25, 0, 14, 14
109 first class innings = 4 hundreds

List A - average = 46 ie higher than CC
20/20 average = 28.33 ie higher than CC

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Good start, Lancs 7-2, 1 each for Bunny and Rushworth
9 for 3 now. then again last year we bowled them out cheaply when Thorp was bowling the ball horizontally and they they got us out cheaply. I'd be interested to know what the conditions are like after the rain ie muggy?

It was 11 for 4. Now 20 for 4 - looks like they're building a dangerous partnership. ;-)

3 wickets for Onions so far.

Why the shock? He's a good bowler, and has been doing very well for Stockton

didn't know he has been doing well tbh, seen he can bowl didnt realise he is a wicket taker?

tbh it was more that he was given a turn before stokes, but as it happens it was only the over before stookes come on anyhow. stokes has been in good nick with the ball recently

163 FOR 6 latest score let them off the hook a bit

from 58-5 to 221-6 is not what we wanted really. just as well we won last time out! still, i had designs on us finishing second :lol:

We might be lucky to get any play in today, there's a pitch inspection at 1.00 if there's no more rain.

Might be good for us if time is lost from the game, they need the win more than us and perhaps they may be generous to us in their attempts to win!

I'm happy if loads of time is taken out of the game. Lancs need to win this one more than we do and the way the pitch seems to be behaving, I'd take a draw.

Agree. 40 points ahead of Lancs and Worcs would surely see us safe.
