More KP drama...

Yes it is. Where do you draw the line? Pietersen wants to do as he pleases. One minute stating that he wants to not play in all formats, then saying he wants to pick and choose test matches, then sending text messages abusing captain and coach. We are always a better team with him playing but you ccant just let him do as he pleases. If he demanded to pick the side or quit i'm sure some would day that was acceptable because 'he's our best player and its all about results'.

The line has been drawn quite clearly, if this will be the stance by the ECB in the future fair enough, I would just rather watch a cricket match with KP in the team that's all. The whole thing has been frankly a mess, let's just hope this is not the beginning of the end of what has been the best period for English cricket for decades.

but at the same time he has always done what the team have asked of him, be that captaining the side until he was shambollically [sp?] treated and sacked, playing middle order, opening the batting, or scoring runs quickly.

i couldnt see a trott agreeing to open in the sitatution we were in in the last match, not when it might interfere with his precious average

so he wanted a bit of a break from playing one form or cricket, big f***ing deal? strauss was rested from the tour to pakistan or bangladesh or wherever it f***ing was and hes the captain no outcry then

Some of the ways he has found of getting out when his team needed him to bat with some intelligence contradict that. Nothing wrong with taking the attack to the opposition but his obsesssion with self has seen him throw his wicket away on many occasions.

This is like a Jermey Kyle love argument now.

Man (KP) tells woman (ECB) he doesnt want to go out quite as much as shes too demanding

Woman tells man thats fine but if you dont want to go out then theres nee sex in the house. Man agrees but isnt particularly over the moon with the arrangement.

Woman goes out and has a bit of fun, doesnt really seem to be bothered with man not being there.

Man waits in for her and starts asking himself questions as he now only spends weekends in and its all a bit dull so he asks woman if she wants to go back out (basically so he can get his leg over later)

Woman says she'll have a think about it

Man texts another lass having a bit craic on, saying that he doesnt love his lass anymore and shes getting on his wick.

Woman finds texts tells man to get the fuck out.

Man looks a knob and woman worries whether she can manage everything on her own around the house.

(next stage)

Woman sticks to her principles for a while thinking shes teaching him a lesson and eventually lets man back.

Man comes back and does exactly the same again. Woman puts up with it as she realises he's just too useful.

Man gets bored and leaves her for good in the end anyway.

Jeremy Kyle gans apeshit with them both

Cant disagree with any of that. It is a mess and we will be worse without him. I hope it can be resolved but the blame is at his door.

boohoo, batsmen get out, that is life.

KP shouldn't have sent those texts but also for them to become public knowledge the SA camp must have leaked them to a journo.

If KP thinks he has better friends in the SA team then maybe he should think again. This was good thinking by SA to get him out of the way.

Also love the way SA gave a press conference saying they want nothing to do with this as it is a matter for KP and the ECB.

Full marks to SA for getting KP out of the side to make their job easier but it would be great if we stuffed them. Can't see it though.

yeah agreed, the ecb should definitly be able to control who a grown man's friends are :-?

That wasn't the issue though. The point I was making was that the Daily Fail printed a story alleging KP sent derogatory texts about Strauss/Flower to Dale Steyn & AB deVilliers. Therefore either they or someone else in the SA camp who knew about the texts has blabbed to the papers. So if KP thought he was chummy with the SA players he appears to be wrong.

I don't think he was saying that, I think he was saying KP should be more careful with who he considers to be friends in future.

Which of course is 100% true

there's your answer

I will be interested to see what Beefy has to say. I suspect though he will be suggest that KP has gone too far and that the team has to come first.

As much as I don’t think it’s an open and shut case on either side I feel that this is the sort of thing which endangers the spirit of cricket which is what the sport has over everything else-a meaningful, rock solid ethos which places team and the game over individuals. Lose that and the game will be not one iota as good as it is now. I would rather watch England lose for the rest of my life and that spirit be maintained than watch England win with KP in it but for it to be about personalities over everything else. Cricket is special in a way that no other sport is and no one individual should supercede that, no matter how talented or exciting to watch.

I can't see Beefy having a go at KP.

Rewind 30 years and it was Beefy who was in KP's position - the establishment fearing that one player is bigger than them so they bring him down several pegs.

Allegedly Broad and Hayles were involved in the parody Twitter account. If true taking the piss in public and private are two different entities it seems to the ECB.

Rats nest.

"It may be an even better side. It's one of those things where a talented player is being replaced by another talented player," said Bresnan."So why should we miss a certain individual because he's unavailable for selection?"

what a load of crap

The history of cricket is littered with players who do that. You can't have it all ways. He has destroyed opposition attacks at times but inevitably it will go wrong at times too.

He is a supreme entertainer. He puts bums on seats.

I like cricket but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch Cook or Strauss or Trott play. Pietersen I would though.

That said, he does appear to have created this situation himself. Although, it is quite likely that there are players in the dressing room who resent him. Less talented ones probably.
