I'm glad the ECB have taken this stance to be honest. It was clear he was becoming a negative influence in the dressing room and that he genuinely thought he was bigger than the team. I think he thought fans would sympathise with his desire to pick and choose when he played for us on the basis that we should be grateful we get to watch him.

For me, we've sent out a very clear message that no one is undroppable no matter how good you are and we'll weaken the team if necessary in the name of having 11 players fully committed to the cause.

Well said. For soimeone who is very well looked after with a central contract, he has behaved despicably and with no respect for either his teammates or his coaches. England achieved cricketing success by being a team, and they will lose it if they allow a selfish, arrogant individual to undermine team spirit.

I can really see this decision motivating some of the 'lesser' players to raise their games for Lord's and send out a strong message that we don't need our best player to be a good team. If we could sneak a win now it would back up what has been a very brave move by the ECB.

By all accounts the players have really had their fill of Pietersen so I can see the lads being pretty fired up to prove a point this week.

Maybe so, but they'd still be lesser players and it seems a case of cutting off nose to spite face. With him scoring 149 we were close to the saffers, without him could be trouble.

He's a saffer. They are basically a Germans with their sense of humour removed.
Dutch methinks.

I can see us getting beat tbh. One of the best batsmen in the world, stupidity not to pick him for this. A couple of texts does not merit it. Seems like a bit of a boys club in the dressing room at the moment, real shame.

The last one had a membership of Flintoff, Harmison and KP and the trio are sticking together like Musketeers.

yep, agree totally.

This now has to be the end for him.

Surrey are sure to bin him as well.

We are supposedly the best team in the world but to be quite frank, theres barely more than a couple of players who deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the world class cricketers who have graced the game for the last 30 years. One of those worthy is KP. He's ate some humble pie, we should have stuck with him.

Delighted he's been told to fuck off. Hopefully that is the last of him for England.

He will be a miss but it sends a good message to the English team that it does not matter who you are the management will not stand for these antics

Far weaker team without him but what can you do? Don't want to see cricket go the way of football, far more important that the game's ethos is maintained than England win at any cost
