Mustard given out LBW on 43 - decision reversed after umpire at square leg indicated that he got a touch on it first. Hope we can capitalise. 289/7.

According to Colonel, who I spoke to after the game today, Gough did not 'intervene'. Evans realised he made a mistake and consulted with Gough before reversing his decision .An umpire cannot intervene in the others decision even if wrong.

Surrey lost 1 point according to BBC match report.

How many overs were we behind the rate when we were docked points??

So how does -3 only bring about a 1 point deduction? The table shows Surrey having lost 2 points in total so is that a previous misdemeanour or did the BBC get it wrong on their report and they actually lost 2 points?

If they did only lose 1 the. I'd like to see an appeal or complaint about ours. 4 points could be huge come the end of the season!

I know. Might stop us winning the league.

We lost 1 point per over over the rate

We lost 4 points, the over rate was -5.

Either way, the same "rule" hasn't been applied to Surrey who ended the game on -3

Surrey were deducted 1 point for slow over rate on 15th April and have been deducted 1 point for slow over rate on 9th August.

Seems unfair we get deduced 4 points with a -5 over rate and Surrey only get deducted 1 point for a -3 over rate

It's at the umpires discretion what gets deducted after the match.

With us it didn't help that one of the umpires was Peter Willey. In fact with him I'm amazed he didn't take the full 5 points off.

Strange, given he was born in Sedgefield.

Why are you amazed? It is both umpires who make the decision not Willey alone and it is the fielding captains's responsibilty to make sure that the rate is maintained. In this case Mustard was going for a win which durham desperately needed but failed to get. The sacrifice of points had the win been achieved would have been worth it.He used pace bowlers throughout and was changing the field every few balls .The umpired only apply the laws they do not make them.
