Striker
England vs Australia and the finale of the 2nd test at Edgbaston!

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWfSoHbh26w[/ame]

The most tense Sunday morning ever as the Aussies chipped away at the target and then Harmison bowls a shocker and the rest is history!

I remember listening to it on TMS in a tent of the Isle of Wight and the commentator made it out like Harmison had bowled a brilliant slower ball

His slower ball the previous evening was superb to dismiss Clarke.

Dont think we will ever see another series like this one for some time.

I remember the Third Test when we needed one wicket with a few overs to go and couldnt get it, then in the fourth we collapsed chasing a low total (thanks to Warneys bowling) and scraped home by 3 wickets.

Was that the one where we made them follow-on for the first time in about 10 years? Gilchrist went berserk and nearly got the fastest ever text 50 I think

What a strange series that was. It's strange thinking back, if we had won the 3rd test, we would probably have wrapped up the Ashes in the 4th and the series would just be remembered as the one where we got the urn back after all those years, rather than the nail biting, all time classic we were treated to.

Without that final day of the Old Trafford test, I don't think anyone would remember the series as fondly, the hope and anticipation as the wickets fell and victory edged closer only to feel disappointed as the final ball was bowled and there was no crash of ash.

I can't help thinking though, after 2 home Ashes series that have been very tight, it's about time we absolutely walloped them next summer.

Aye it was a real shame that Simon Jones wasn't on the pitch to bowl the last overs, Harmy bowled shite!

Also remember on channel 4 and Simon Hughes was in his lil box and showed a clip of McGrath defending a shot to Bell or Hoggard and Hoggard just throwing the ball back to the bowler as quick as possible to keep the pressure...

he was 2 inches out of his crease

If ever, was absolutely riveting, nail biting, edge of the seat stuff

I remember watching it on Channel 4. Thousands were locked outside.

Did anyone off here go?

I was there, got the photos to prove it. Was sat right next to the Aussie Fanatics, Fantastic experience. When Jones took that catch the noise was unreal, will stay with me till i die.

Also remember the Stewards letting me and my Dad in early 'cos they were convinced we'd travelled all the way down just to see 2 balls :lol::lol:

I was there for day 3 with Flintoff's batting heroics of the morning and best over ever. Wish I had been able to go to day 4 but just being at any part of that test was amazing.

I was also at day 5 of the Old Trafford test, left home at around 4am just thinking 'this had better be worth it' and even though we left disappointed, it was worth every second of nerves in the queue outside just hoping we wouldn't be the first people turned away.
