Durham could turn to Hussey

Not a chance it would happen. WIth the Ashes next year, he's going to play all 10 tests and if it goes badly for him, he might just pack in cricket all together.

Good to see they've learned the error of their ways even if it is too late to stave off division 1 cricket next year

Whilst MH would be perfect for us, I think Tim Wellock is just living in hope like the rest of us. Durham have already showed this year just how bad their recruitment process (or lack of it) is.

"there's a collective lack of confidence among the batsmen"

 so why keep selecting the same failing batsmen then Geoff?

Bollocks.

He's just had his fourth kid which is why he missed the recent ODI series in England. And has already stated he doesn't want to be away from his family at the moment. Plus he's one of a very few players who still plays all three formats of International cricket.

Hussey might end up being manager but I very much doubt that he will play for us again. TBF the journalists know nothing and are invariably wrong.

i spoke to him during the last ashes and he said if he wasnt playing international cricket hed come back over in a shot, obv hed need to retire but the kid might have changed things

Martin Emmerson has just posted this on Twitter.

"The Durham cheif exec David Harker says he has contacted Shiv Chanderpaul with a view to resigning him this season. However the ability for Shiv to get a visa in time to get here after WI v NZ test series would have been an issue. The Durham chief exec says he's also sounded out Mike Hussey and Ricky Ponting this season as well."

That would be bloody amazing that like.

Harker mentioned this at the Q&A last week (see thread). Hopefully something can be sorted for next season though Cook said he would have expected an overseas player to struggle with batting

Only Marty Emmerson is well connected with club officials and even then at times he doesn't always find out information
