Half a chance here, but can't afford to lose more than one more before the new ball and then need to keep it going. Runs looking important.

Done it before a few times against SA too...

A modern day (admittedly less talented) Mark Ramprakash. He's obviously a talented player and will score boat loads of first class runs; but he is not mentally strong enough for test match cricket. Neither of the deliveries that have got him out in this match should be troubling a genuine test cricketer. For a start, neither of them were within two feet of the stumps.
 
No need at all for Prior to play that shot. If we're gonna have any chance of saving this Bell is gonna have to get a century at this strike rate

Who's at fault here our bowlers or batters. I say 60/40 to the bowlers. Batters should have got 100-150 more in 1st innings but the bowlers were toothless imo.

It was an all round poor performance. Batsmen ultimately responsible for the loss though IMO. To only get 385 from the position we were in 1st innings was very poor. The game should have been made safe and secure by day 2. Cook (tin hat), Trott and Pietersen all were set to make big, big scores and none of them did (Cook obviously more excused as he made 3 figures but having seen Smith, Kallis and Amla make huge hundreds I think he'll be disappointed to go for 115).

the bowlers put the batters under a lot of pressure second time round, still there werent too many batsmen who were got out, they were just giving their wickets away at times, bells was a terrible shot

amla and kallis are fantastic players, but watching them bat for 2 days was like torture, not a flair shot between them, perhaps they should play it on loop at guantanamo. plus trott and cook batted long for us, definitely a game for the purists
